The cables and adapters are still for sale. These are barely used and like new. Would prefer to sell as a set.. Check with B&H or Adorama, these go for a pretty penny when they are in stock and are great to get the flash off the camera.

Yeah I have two new batteries for it and tried both and then tried one of the older ones after a full charge and it still does the same thing.. I guess I shouldn't complain, its seen a lot of use and travel and the last time I figured it out I was around 150,000 images shot....

K10d - Menu Problems...

I have owned my K10d since Feb '06 and have mostly been happy with it... Lately i have been having problems navigating the various menus with them "blinking" off prematurely. At first it was random and infrequent, now I cannot access any menu long enough to make any changes. It doesn't matter if its the main menu, or the Fn menu to do something simple like change WB. The moment you turn on a menu they immediately close again. The camera shoots and fires fine (except WB is way off, despite being set for auto WB currently, has a very cold blue hue to i with certain lenses but works fine with others). Shutter fires fine, aperture and shutters speeds adjust ok. About every 10th time I turn it on the menu will work for 5 seconds or so and was able to get in and do a reset but that has had no effect on the problem at all.

Anyone see anything like this? At this point I doubt there is any reason to fix it as opposed to a new body.....

New k200d - Problem?

I'm working on getting both the EXIF from that pic and a clearer shot. From what she has described they are individual green pixels and some red pixels (predominately green) they are not in any pattern nor are they continous (as what you would see with the bright/dark setting enabled) they also do not flash (as the bright/dark feature does on my K10d, I would assume it is the same on the k200d)

I did find a whitepaper that indicates that the k200d will display red and green pixels when it detects an error on a pixel and uses the information from the neighboring pixel (and I know there is always a few dysfunctional pixels) but this is pretty widespread. And its also neither the darkest or lightest areas but somewhere in between and generally in the middle of the frame

New k200d - Problem?

Hey Guys as the happy owner of a k10d, I suggested to a friend she give a k200d a try.

She just received the camera today and there is a disturbing problem, unfortunately I am 1000 miles away so I am trying to diagnose this long distance. When she takes a picture and then views it on the camera's LCD there are areas of green and red pixels, individual pixels but lots of them (thousands). At first I thought she had the bright/dark indicator on, but that wasn't it, its unchecked and they do not flash but remain steady.

However the images look fine on the pc, but the areas on the camera display are in darker areas but not black areas and are never the same pixels. I am including an image she took with her p/s of it, its not very clear but you can see areas around the dogs face with a green cast and that is it. Is this a defect or am I missing something?

Well that's kind of where I am, the more i think about it the more the vf bothers me, but I just can't live without it.....

Do I buy a replacement body why they fix it? Or if I am at that point, write Pentax off and change to another system? So how is the 40D??;)

Well for me its not so much being upset that there is this problem with my k10d. Its the support and customer service. Anything as complex as a dSLR is bound to have the "occasional" problem. This seems to have crossed from "isolated problems" to quite widespread.

At this point the right thing for Pentax to do (or at this point to have already done) is to acknowledge the problem (apparently Pentax China has) and a plan to repair or replace in an efficient manner. So far it sounds like very few people who have suffered the dismally slow warranty service experience still havent received satisfactory repair of the issue. There have been a handful of people who have had their camera bodies replaced (I've found one person who received a replacement that was worse than the one they had originally). Now if your paying a premium for the top of the line model they offer and for a better brand name, you expect them to stand behind it, acknowledge problems and solve them quickly.

You dont buy a top of the line mercedes or bmw and expect when there is a problem to have slower and more unresponsive than that of someone purchasing a low end chevy... maybe not the best analogy, but bottom line is this is their top of the line flagship camera. People spent good money on their cameras and in some cases dumping other systems and switching to Pentax just to receive pathetically sad customer service and response to the problem.

They might still get ahead of this, and should have done this a while ago.

Acknowledge the problem
Setup a reasonably quick exchange program to cut the time down to 2 weeks 3 weeks tops

Right now they officially "claim" a turnaround time that is about half of what reality is for most people.
So what I send my camera in and go without for the holidays and my cruise in January
Buy a replacement body while I wait for this to be repaired? then sell it later?
keep it for the holidays and my cruise and lose out on warranty?

Not really great choices

This begs the question is the focusing screen itself to blame or is it the focus screen frame? Could this by chance just be a bad batch of screens? I would gladly spend $50 on a new screen if I could avoid being without my camera for 4 to 6 weeks.

What has been the experience with their turnaround time on repairs. I just got off the phone with them and they are telling me that they shoot for 15 to 20 business days (from logging in of camera) and that they are a little behind on repairs and about 7 days behind schedule logging in cameras and with shipping to plan on a little more than 4 weeks and as long as 6 weeks! Now I realize that there are some shipping issues etc... but this just seems like a ridiculous length of time to be without a camera..

I purchased a K10d body, 18-55, 50-200, 50 1.7 and a 360 flash and the battery grip some $1900 later and this is what I get? Thank God no one does warranty repairs on cars this slow.

Dang, I've been having this problem too.. Posted on another forum and the posts were brutal. The Pentax faithful basically claimed there was no way this was possible and that I must simply be holding the camera crooked.

The pics I have, show nearly the same identical angle down to the right that the other show here.

Has anyone succesfully had theirs repaired and did it turn out to be the sensor or the focusing screen? I'm very curious as to the culprit as mine out of the box wasnt like this but seemed to develop after enabling dust removal at startup. So far I have yet to send it in as I would hate to be without it that long just to have it not fixed as one of the previous posters had happen to him. Pentax phone support seems to be pretty noncommital about it all..
