I am trying to work on solar photography, preparing for the upcoming solar eclipse. I am not getting the results I expected. I’m using a Seymour Solar filter: Helios Solar Glass® Camera Filters - Threaded ? Seymour Solar
The filter description says the images should be light yellow. What am I doing wrong?

Praying Mantis posing on the branch of a rose bush. She was so still that I nearly cut her while dead heading the roses.
The shutter speed was actually 1/100s but I didn't see that option in the drop down menu.

LensBeginner .... You were right. I was in the wrong focus point selection mode. Four way controller worked in 27 point and single point modes. So, I learned something! Thanks so much for both responses.

My K-3's four way controller has stopped working. If I change photo modes or switch to live view, the options on the four way controller are accessible. But once I shoot, the four way controller doesn't work again. Thoughts?

After downloading the file onto a card, when I try to open it, I get the message like it is going to install on my computer. I can't get to the readme or bin file. Suggestions?

Thanks for all of your posts - I am feeling much better about my decision to stay on the baseball field during the rain to continue shooting with my K-5/60-250. Now that I'm home, is there anything I should do to make sure my K-5 and lens are both okay?

I'd never taken a picture under a black light before - but the scorpion just looked so cool! How can I avoid the spots on the scorpion?

Just ordered a K-5 from Adorama. Good price. 30 day return policy, if necessary. Excellent help from Helen and Fred with my questions.
Thank you Forum Members for the encouragement and knowledge you share. Now I must save some bucks for new glass!
I feel like a 10 year old waiting for Christmas to arrive.

I am one of those faithful Pentax people with cold feet. I want desperately to upgrade to a K5 but am not willing to dive into the buy now and risk the stain/replace/repair issue. I contacted b&h customer service and they did not give me any assurances that their cameras were stain free and there was no way for them to check the camera before they shipped it.
Needless to say, my Nikon and Canon friends are doing their best to convince me to join their ranks. I'm doing my best to hold the line until I feel a bit more confident that stock being shipped is stain free. Question is - how will I know that? I live in the middle of nowhere and rely on internet shopping.

Sad to say but I have never updated the firmware on my ist dl. Now that I'd like to, I need some guidance from the camera wizards, please.
The website offers a windows format for ME, 2000, and XP, but no Windows 7. Any advice on what will be the consequences if I attempt this with 7?
Any advice you can offer in making the steps easier would be greatly appreciated. Using a cable internet connection, do you have a prediction how long this process takes?
