I have problems with Aperture.
Duplication.
Aperture has trouble letting the user move files. (Masters - Versions – Data)
When moving a large volume of files, your computer will be tied up for many hours.
Finder has trouble transferring to Aperture.

Stuck filter

Hi

I have also had this happen a number of times over the years.

What I have found, it is important to put the force on the top edge (and/or bottom edge of the filter and/or adapter depending what it is stuck on).

Putting force on the outer edge only binds the filter, if not applied evenlyaround the circumference of the filter.

I have used rubber gloves with success but make sure you put the force onthe filter using the palm, not using the fingers on the outer edge.

I have used mouse pads also, again because the force is on the top edge ofthe filter, not the outer edge.

This is the same principal used to remove the lens retaining ring when taking a lens apart. I use a large o-ring or similar device and force down on a flat surface to make sure the force is applied evenly.

Thanks for your advice.
These are good things to know.
If anybody is organizationally challenged, determined to screw up or is PCuser, they should not use aperture?

Like I said unless you know what your doing in aperture be aware.
Mac and Aperture are not like on a PC where you can find anything anytime and move files around out side of the program. (I use ACDSee on my PC)
i don't tag my photos. I sort them to camera and date. I do not delete/trash many photos.
Can you sort files out side of Aperture using using control click in finder?

Be careful with Aperture 3 as photo organizer unless you know what your doing.
It has filled my hard drive and when I exported my files from my Imac hard drive to an external hard drive it reoganized all my photos.
The other thing to be aware of is that pictures in the ap.library can not be accessesd.
All organizing has to be done in aperature.
I have lost a lot of pictures because I don't know how to find then.
I have had to go through 50,000 plus pictures in aperature to determine duplicates and reoganize my photos on both the Imac and the external hard drive.
I thought it was my doing but I have noticed on the internet I am not alone when it comes to having trouble organizing with aperature 3.

Great tips.
Thanks for your encouragement.
I will try resending the Photos later to-night.
Just to leave on a positive note about the Imac, it is stylish and the fact that it is an all in one unit is great when it is being used in area that’s not an office.

Thanks for your encouragement.
But this is the problem.
I keep reading about how well they work?
Just got off the Imac. I'm trying PSE organizer.
I down loaded an SD card and tried to put the photos into an album.
I select them all and slide them over to the album. They gust slide back out. Earlier today I tried to send a large Jpeg photo with email and it took a long time for the coloured ball to stop spinning. Never got sent. Tried sending it as an attachment and it resized the photo which was not what I wanted to do. It seems every time I ask the Mac to something it only does what it wants not want I need? But I just keep trying and trying because of great things I read.

We purchased an Imac 21.5 last month. I have used a PC from the days of DOS.
We purchased the imac for our photgraphy and because of the great reviews about using a Mac.
Let me tell you I had it back in the box ready to get my money back by the second week. But I told myself that everyone tells me how easy and great the Mac is and I was determined to learn how to use this great computer.
Well let me tell you the truth. Mac's are slow and are not logical.
They hang up and require restarts to get them to work.
As far as organizing your photos, well it does it you alright, but forget trying to correct anything because you have to have a degree in computer science to try to reoganize the mess.
The mouse and track pad are another thing. Great idea but they are too intermittent in thier actions. And what’s up with the Dock being on the main screen. Anytime you get near it jumps into action and interferes with you actions.
PC's may have a bad rap but at least with a PC you will get things done that you want get done. One more thing about the Mac, the key board, how do you delete forwards in a sentence?

Acdsee Pro 3 vs Elements 9

I'm happy to see comments about ACDsee. I have been using ACDsee photo manager for a year or more and have been offered an upgrade to ACDsee pro 3 for 55% off $74.99 US. I find the manager program very good for organizing my files. When I started saving digital photo files I tried/used programs that came with cameras as well as web browsers. All they did was make it difficult to find my files especially when I changed programs. I found that Photo manager allowed me to control the location I put the files and made it easy to find files when I wanted to see a picture or edit. The program also offers some basic photo editing that I use.
Now I would like to have a more powerful program to allow more editing and be more creative.
For anyone that uses Pro 3, can you advise if the program is good for creative purposes for adding content to photos or is pro 3 just a fancy Manager program for lack of other words.
