My *55 also squeaks. It has been doing that ever since I bought it secondhand 4 years ago, but I haven't had any problems with SDM so far.

Yes, the LCD cover is attached to the body with double sided tape. I replaced mine a while ago, the local Pentax service center was kind enough to sell me the replacement kit (it contains the cover and the adhesive tape). I did not cost much, about 10 euros.
The difficult part is getting the old cover out without damaging the body. Once the old cover is out, putting the new cover is easy.

Got my camera finally back from the repair. Except that it wasn't the same camera that I sent them but a brand new K5-II!
When I called them a couple of weeks ago to check what the situation was, they said that they had ordered a spare part from the manufacturer and were waiting for it. Well, I don't know what happened but today UPS delivered me a packet and inside was the K-5II and a note that they were sending me the new camera as a warranty replacement (my K-5 was still under warranty).

It was the viewfinder display. I'll let you know what they repaired once I get my camera back (it's probably going to take one or two weeks).

I just sent my K-5 for a warranty repair because of a similar problem. I my case there were several digits with missing segments, making the display more or less unreadable. The problem came out of nowhere last week: one morning the display was screwed up, having been OK the night before (and I definetely have not dropped the camera or mistreated it in any other way).

I don't think aluminium would be a good material either for that purpose. Stainless steel?

Exactly. The purpose of the diagram in the patent is just to clarify the textual part and show what the terms "shock-absorbing pin", " mirror-down shock-absorbing lever" etc. mean . Whether the diagram shows an APS or FF mirror box is irrelevant for the patent and you can not draw any conclusions about FF camera coming or not from that.

This is what Kawauchi said: A: If you look at the roadmap, there is a lens with a shorter focal length. So, I think you could assume we are considering a replacement for the 16-50mm. I don't find that answer very clear: - What is the "lens with a shorter focal length" he is referring to? - Does he mean that this "lens with a shorter focal length" could be considered as a 16-50 replacement, or does he mean that the existence of this lense on the roadmap hints that they are also considering making a 16-50 replacement which is not on the roadmap yet? Also the words "you could assume we are considering" is not realy a definite "yes". |

With DA 40mm limited, you ca use both the filter and the hood at the same time. The hood attaches to the lens with a stadard 49mm thread, so you can screw it on top of the filter. That's what I have done and like you have found out, it is difficult to find 30.5mm filters.
DA 21 limited is a different case. You simply can not use the lenses own hood with a CPL filter.

There's a tiny bit of left/right wobble in the flash shoe of my K-7 as well. I noticed it the very first time I attached a flash to my camera. I haven't though that it would be dangerous and considered it more like an irritating "feature".
EDIT: Uups, I just noticed that this is a year old thread...
