Yes it's not an answer to the basic question as I did mention. US is not Europe but this comparison nevertheless shows that gas in fact is cheap in the US.
Everybody needs to eat to survive. But cheap gas is not needed for survival in the US. Almost everybody in the first world could accomodate his life to be less dependent on cheap gas.

Perhaps that's not a direct answer to your question. But you should be aware that gas in the US is still cheap.
In Europe and and in the country where I live (Switzerland) gas costs about twice as much as it costs in the US. It always did so since I can remember. In other countries the comparison might be even worse. The answer to rising gas prices should be more efficient cars, public transportation and looking for cleaner (renewable) energy sources. Maybe an incovenient attitude for some people but my honest opinion regarding the excessive use in our society of a resource that took millions of years to be created from nature.

Since a couple of days ago some dealers in Switzerland dropped the price for the K-5 from ca. CHF 920 to ca. CHF 620 after staying at arround 950 for arround 3 month.
CHF 620 = EUR 513 = USD 680
That is lower than the K-7 ever was.
The K-5 with 18-135 is CHF 1100, so the lens is still relatively expensive.
Cool. Hm..shall I stay with my lovely k-x or shall I upgrade ;)

How about aperture setting with the pentax lens adapter? A lens like the da15mm does not have an external aperture ring nor does the adapter seem to have one. So can you choose aperture with a lens like the da15 on the nex 5n with adapter?

I own a GX10 (K10d clone) and a k-x. the most important differences for me are:
Pro K10d:
- more external controls (specially missed the 2 wheel on the k-x)
- superb results at ISO 100-200, even for todays standard (this my subjective impression)
- Weather resistance
- TAv mode
- focus confirmation in viewfinder
- better battery life (rechargeable AA drain pretty fast on the k-x)
Pro k-x:
- better high iso performance (arround 2-3 stops)
- more dynamic range and low shadow noise (this gives you allot more capability in raw post processing)
- lighter and significantly smaller. specially with a small lens attached (Size sometimes does matter to me)
- Live view (very usefull to set exposure and focus with manual lenses)
The lists could be extended of course.
At the moment I only use the k-x. Mainly because I appreciate the increased dynamic range.
I would say if you know to control aperture and shutter speed on the K10d with the two wheels you can compensate a part of the missing high iso performance. On the k-x/k-r it's more complicated to control all parameters for exposure.
