It definitely would be easier to service Sigma 300/2.8 than lets say Pentax FA*300/2.8..
Most parts are same no matter if you have Pentax, Canon, Nikon or Sony A version of come Sigma lens. Canon versions usually differ as they had to use internal motor for lenses like 100-300/4 while Pentax and Sony versions are simply autofocused through body.

I hope that new blood might do some changes and move towards the EVF mirrorless APS-C system and some good adaptor for K mount.
But so far it does not look that optimistic.

They should do some modernization anyway. Install 9 rounded aperture blades, replace screwing lens cap with more classic one and if possible make the focusing more accurate by using finer screw which moves the elements (more rotations of AF motor, since we have faster motors in recent bodies like K3 when compared to K100D back in 2006)

It has still the same 2012-2013 specs. Side by Side Comparison Pentax Optio WG-2 vs. Ricoh WG-80 vs. Pentax WG-90 vs. Ricoh WG-30: Digital Photography Review
These are now being used on various construction sites to collect documentation.
Still the same 28-140/F3.5–5.5 lens that is nothing special for low light. Still the same 16Mpix 1/2.33" noise generator...
It will be nice to have some underwater rugged camera, but with at least 1/1.7" BSI CMOS with just about 12Mpix to keep noise under control a bit. And faster lens. Something like 24-100/2.0-4.0 at least..
But at least they are releasing something.

I have my Revue SC5 Auto with K mount in case I need full manual film body and my MZ-10 with battery pack in case I need AF SLR.
Film is done. Few years ago it was still possible to get some unused films for very little money from various people who ditched their holiday cameras and switched to digital compacts or phones. But that source is dry now. Processing is also more and more expensive.
Buying new film rolls, taking 24/36 shots and then paying for process is economical hell in 2023.

It is a pitty that Sigma 50-100/1.8 with K mount never materialized. Sig18-35/1.8 is brutal tool. When I need low light or razor sharp images, it is the obvious choice for wide shots. The difference between F2.8 and F1.8 is huge if you are already on some exposure like F1.8, 1/20s, ISO3200

Recently I found that DA55-300PLM does work witk kenko SHQ 2x on K3 and it does AF in live view.. and quite fast. Interesting.. 110-600mm/F9-14 lens
Also works with Kenko SHQ 1.5x with a bit better result considering output quality.

Concerning 70-210/4.. since original Tamron was already discontinued, you can expect PenTamron version to vanish later this year or next year.

It is strange anyway that they need to add each lens individually instead fo just working with general KAF procedure. What is the difference between lets say DA*16-50 and Sigma 17-50/2.8 HSM..? Both use same contacts, have internal motors and have to achieve same focus point.
Or even easier FA* 80-200mm F2.8 vs Tamron 70-200/2.8 - both primitive lenses with body-driven AF, aperture ring and old protocol..

I have 1.5x SHQ Kenko, 2x Kenko and 1.7x Pentax AF TC
Results depend highly on lens that is attached. In general 1.5x teleconverter works very well with most lenses. It looses only a bit of light and with lenses like 100/2.8, 70-200/2.8 or 100-300/4 it provides results that are significantly better than crops. Even on 24Mpix K3. If lens has hi-res central part of image, it can even improve overall image. An example - DA18-135 is known to have weaker borders. And if you attach 1.5x TC on it, it magnifies central part that is sharp and crops borders. Results are very good.
But surprisingly even lens like Sigma 50-500 benefits from this TC, it slows down AF a bit, but AF accuracy is better.
2x TC is weaker and I'm using it mostly with tripod. It can AF with most fast lenses, that is no problem. On K3 even Sigma 18-250/3.5-6.3 OS works with this TC and even stabiliser in that lens behaves very well, but it needs light because it is 500mm with F12 equivallent aperture when open and towards F16 for better results, and it also needs at least 1/320s or 1/500s to be sure.
1.7x AF TC from Pentax is somewhere in the middle. But concerning image quality, for some old lenses this adaptor can in fact improve image output significantly, because old lenses tend to have weak multicoating or no multicoating applied at last elements. It was not that important for film. But shiny sensors of digital cameras reflect a lot of light back. And exactly in this case, this adaptor works as additional SMC coated back module for those lenses, which results in improved contrast. And contrast + resolution gives you "sharpness". |

This adaptor really needs Tamron/Tokina/Sigma AF support. Even some basic mode (lets say mid point AF-S only) will be better than nothing.

This whole website is dedicated to Pentax and photography related equipment. And if we are talking about latest acquisitions, one would expect things like various cameras no matter which brand or type, lenses, filters, flashes, teleconverters, tripods, bags, backgrounds, printers, even pentax binoculars etc.. And if you go through pics, you can see a lot of these, which is perfectly fine and interesting.
But a vintage radio, saw or piece of rail? Really? What about daily grocery? Today I bought few liters of milk! Look! And a bread and bag of potatoes..
C'mon guys. Please.

If you want small, light, fast focusing and very affordable telephoto lens with quite usable image quality, you might want this small Sigma DC 55-200/4-5.6, which I got for about $35...

Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5 DC Macro was my first K mount lens ever.. bought in early 2008 with K20D and I still have it. But recently I saw one Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.0 DC HSM with very nice price tag.. and now I have both. Optically the output is similar. The improved version focuses a bit faster, silently and is maybe a bit more reliable. Also a bit larger and heavier with shape very similar to Sigma 17-50/2.8 using some shared housing parts obviously.
