existing lenses on new FF

This question might have been discussed else where, but going to ask anyways :p

What are the chances of a new FF standard zoom coming out at the same time as the FF?

Something that rivals or comes close to either the Nikon 24-70, or the Canon EF 24-70.

Isn't/shouldn't such a lens be a part of a basic arsenal for a Camera of this caliber? I am super excited to use my FA 31, crossing my fingers that screwdrive support is on that thing :D

Sky Entry from Mount Fuji

Hi all, This is my entry to the sky contest.

A little background, This photo was taken when I was on the way down from the top from Mt. Fuji. The time was just after sunrise, you can see the mountains in the background illuminated by the rising sun. I adjusted the exposure a little on the foreground and some other minor adjustments in lightroom.

The house in the picture is a lodge for travellers to rest as they climb Mt.Fuji, the weather was absolutely fantastic, this picture was taken roughly 3000m above sea level.

Thanks for looking! This is my first entry in the Pentax forums photo contest!;)

Item Location
Toronto (Canada)

Item Description
The lens is in Mint shape, no scratches, clean glass, not even scratches on the hood.
have a tiffen filter for the 77mm glass
I don't have the box, but the original bag is included.

So total for the 77mm UV filter, the DA 14 lens plus hood, plus bag, and of course the original fron tand end caps. will amount to 395 Canadian Dollars.

It is a very mint version of the lens, it has done me wonders, the reason i'm letting this go is because i'm investing in an expensive guitar.

I forgot that i bought the lens from the forums, and i saw my last posting which is way off, this time the price has been adjusted, thanks!

magnifying eyecup

I use the KPS 1.3X for my K7, I really like it, the built quality is great, the eyecup is comfortable.

2 downside that I have experienced is the slight vignetting on the K7, and the dust attracted by the rubber eyecup, but all things considered, I'm very happy with this eyepiece, probably will never go back to the oem one that came with the K7.

This has made manual focusing quite a bit easier due to the big magnification, there is several threads on this topic somewhere in the forum, you should read upon others opinion as well, but if my memory serves me correct, they are all fairly positive.

works for the k7! with a little vignetting that is...but not enough to get in the way of anything(atleast for me).

and a quick question for RMLady! when you said earlier that you can change the diopter on the KPS, do you mean that jagged ring under the rubber eyepiece? I haven't really turned anything, just slapped it right on the k7.

Oh, forgot to mention, the other models of KPS you were mentioning does NOT include the Pentax brace, you must either get the UMC or the U-13 C. I believe the models you listed is for Canon.

I just recently got the KPS for my K7. It really is very nice, but has a tiny bit of vignetting for the K7.
In regards to the Models for KPS, I did some extensive research for it, there seems to be two models that would include a pentax brace, the U-13 C and the UMC, and I believe the only difference is that the U-13 C had two interchangeable eye piece.
If you go to their Korean site, the U-13 C is now discontinued, but u can still find it on ebay for about double the price of the UMC model.
There is one other downside for me, the rubber eye piece attracts too much dust and lint, it is inevitable that you have to wipe it down at least twice a day with a wet microcloth if you are using your camera heavily.

Hope that helps! :D

haha......you know what that is? That's the actual light from the moon above...I shifted the moon down to fit into my picture...and i couldn't really get rid of the initial light without disturbing the sky around, but I thought the effect was acceptable..maybe i'll try to process it out later.

Thanks for your comment!

Hi Everyone!

The following is my first attempt at a Panoramic Shot.

First, need to come clean...the MOON is real...but it was higher...haha...a little too high..out of my picture....so I needed to photoshop is down a little...sort of cheating..I know...but the rest of the picture is natural colors, played with a little bit saturation and sharpening, that's all.

I shot 20 Raw files, 5 Raw per view, later converged into 4 HDR pictures. and stitched using PP.

This was shot from my K7+Tamron 17-50,all at 17mm using the cheapest manfrotto tripod(since the exposure was long...pictures were many...and wind was strong...I was scared that my k7 would get blown off 25 stories and smash the pavement!!! but that didn't happen...thankfully:o)

Any input would be greatly appreciated! I'm still very much learning photography, and just moved to dslr less than 2 month ago, thanks in advance for your helpful comments!!

Additional information....shots were taken at 4 30 am, the view is Westside of Toronto, and there was not a single piece of cloud in sight!!

I am a little confused at the moment, I originally thought that Adam was referring to the 58mm as having APSC equivalent of around 87 something focal lenghth, therefore it is more suited for taking portraits, or did he mean that I should get something in the 70-90mm range??

So many options....haha, it's completely clouding my judgments...well, I have a 17-50 Tamron, which I just acquired, I want to use it as a walk about lens, and I'm leaning towards the Nokton 58mm for portraiture, and as my budget frees up maybe a wide angle prime, guess i'm on the lookout for the Nokton Than! Thanks everyone for your input! I will post pictures in the future!

Thanks Jeff, I saw ur msg after my reply to Adam, I am leaning towards the Voigtlander 58mm at the moment, I've been looking at images from all of these lenses, they are all full of character! I think due to the price of the 43 in comparison to the others, I might consider that in the future when my budget will allow it.

Is there any other lenses I should also be looking at in this ball park?

Hi Pentaxians,
I have been using film Pentax for about 2 yrs, and acquired my k7 a month back and I want to add a fix focal length lens to my arsenal! The lenses I am considering are the following:
Voigtlander 40mm 2.0 SLII
Voigtlander 58mm 1.4 SLII
DA 40mm 2.8 Limited

all of them can be found on ebay for roughly 450 including tax and shipping.

I like to shoot portraits, and will be doing some traveling in the summer, so getting into landscape as well. I actually prefer the manual focusing, it isn't a real downside for me. My other choice is to spend roughly 150 dollars more for a FA 43mm, but the price is getting a bit too steep for me at the moment.

I would love to hear your opinions on the above lenses!! and also if there are other candidates that fits the profile, please make suggestions!:)

hmm, my previous response post seems to have gone missing... but

Thanks for the input everyone! now i am even more conflicted.....

Just1MoreDave! just want to make sure...the interchangeable eyecup you are talking about, is it the KPS U-13C? you didn't really mention the name, just wanted to make sure.

As for the split screen, I would like to get a Katzeye, maybe need to wait a little bit for that investment.

Manual Focus Machine

Hi everyone, I have two questions regarding setting up my k7 for better manual focusing.

I looked into the KPS U-13C eyepiece, there has been much positive reviews on the item, and is currently 58 dollars on ebay. The only concern I have is that it might not fit snugly on the k7. I have not found any post regarding the U-13C on a K7, so I am a bit reluctant to spend so much on an eyepiece only to find out it does not fit properly...

So I guess my first question is: Has anyone tried this eyepiece on the K7? If not, does anyone know if the K7's viewfinder is the same built and dimensions as previous pentax dslrs?

Second part of my post is regarding split focusing screens, I shot many rolls of film on my dad's P30, and would love to have one in my k7. I have read about the katzeye, but the price is a little too steep for me...

Second question! has anyone had good experience with the cheap 20-30 dollar split screen on ebay? or care to make a suggestion on an affordable+decent split focusing screen?

Thanks for reading through my semi long question, any help will be much appreciated!!
