Hello, my name is Phil, 62 years old, retired USAF (Msgt) + recently retired from University of Tennessee at Knoxville, my home town and current home. I'm a picture taker, there is a Olympus OM-10, Minolta SR-T101, 102, lenses, piles of filters and such in the closet somewhere. In the past few years I've accumulated four Ultrazooms, Olympus C725UZ; Panasonic DMC-FZ7, 15 & 18. While considering replacement with an up to date Ultrazoom, I developed the delusion that the smaller sensor, speed and anything other than ISO100 resulting in crap, rather than my ineptness, were hampering my efforts.
Counseling and medication having no effect, a friend with a Pentax penchant fueling my delusions, after considering several makes and models, eyes bloody from staring at reviews, mind turned to specification soup, I ordered a K-r package with the 55-300. Along with in body anti-shake and high ISO performance, the K-r seemed the most appropriate selection for a, for the most part push button, picture taker. Within a couple of days, I realized I wanted to get from there to there without changing lens, so a Tamron, 18-200 is on the way. I'm pretty well set as long as I don't develop some delusion that the cheap lenses are hampering my efforts, for which I'm hoping there is medication being on a fixed income.
If anyone is exceedingly bored and wishes to be more so, a bit about some things I like to do and the depths of my ineptitude, including my first efforts with the K-r are on display here. http://philngoodpictureplace.shutterfly.com/ |
