It is eating battery fast if to shoot in live view mode. OVF shooting mode is far less power consuming, I would say it is normal level if to compare to other Pentax cameras.
Adding battery grip alows to shoot in live view for longer time.

No. Camera takes only 109 battery. Grip can take both types.

For me it gives:
- image quality (like all limited lenses)
- versatility. It is more that 21mm and 40mm in one lens. It gives 23mm 2.8 and 33mm 3.5 prime like feel lenses
- very good build quality in comparing to DA limited primes (I have had 40mm and 70mm SMCs)
- manual focus performance similar to manual primes

My go-to lens for APSC is DA 20-40 Limited. It opens up to f2.8 at 23mm, has 9 aperture blades, WR and silent focusing. Build quality and picture rendering are also top.

I have one, and can't recommend it. It won't damage camera, as it is compatible, but it just does not last enough. For me it lasts only half of what my othe non brand-battery - Hahnel - lasts. And Hahnel cannot compete with original Pentax battery. Long story short I have bought second Pentax original battery to ensure enough power during a day.
