Pentax Lens Price Hike - Here we go again!

You Tube

this guy hits the nail on the head. I'm sure its been posted before but it's a good rant for those that missed it. I'm not sure what the heck Pentax USA is thinking but this isn't the right route; especially considering they just RAISED prices not to long ago.

A couple of years ago, I was buying out of the US because even with shipping it was cheaper. Now it seems to have reversed, in Canada - all the lenses I checked were cheaper locally.

3 things you wish you knew when you started

Great thread idea :D I can only think of 2 right now....

1. Keep your negatives safe! I lost all my b&w negatives from my trip to Paris from water damage, so in the film days; this meant a small water/fire proof safe. Today, this means digital backups, when I first started in digital photography I was clueless when it came to backing up my data. Luckily I have most of my photos, but I have lost some good ones along the way; including the raw file of my all time favourite photo.

2. Take your time. Getting started on digital, I would snap like a madwomen. I figured it would improve my chances of getting the shot, but in reality it made me careless. When I started slowing down, thinking about my shot and taking only 1 or 2 photographs; my photography improved dramatically. As a bonus, less pictures to process :)

I really like the look of the second white one and the ability to customize with skins is a nice idea, I guess it is just the term "women-friendly" that rubs me the wrong way.

Our hockey team has a pink jersey for women as well... And it must work because I see them all the time.

I recently took up dirt biking, and finding women's gear that doesn't have pink on it seems almost impossible. Just cause I'm a girl, doesn't mean I want it in pink. I didnt have a choice, my boots have pink on them...Good thing the mud covers it up!

Besides some men like cute little things too.

files on hard drive damaged?

I looked into SSD when my last harddrive failed. I still read a lot of reports about SSD failures, so I decided to wait until the technology matures and prices decrease.

If some of the files have become corrupt, the harddrive could have bad sectors, you could try running Disk Check. You'll probably want to backup the rest of your data now.

For me, DVDs are out of the question as a backup method, I just don't trust them. I've had dvds fail or get scratched/lost. Plus 100 dvds becomes a pain in the ass if you want to restore your files, not to mention it is a dying media.

Two backup drives is a much better alternative, and depending on the amount of data - cloud storage.

Yeah that doesn't seem right. Give it a full charge to make sure it isn't user error, if you are still getting the same battery life then get it replaced.
