Thanks everyone for the advice. I agree, it is definitely a depth of field issue and I will patiently try to persuade the wife to use the Av or Tv modes.

First time poster here.
I currently have a Pentax K100D. I have the kit 18-55mm lens, the 55-200mm lens and also the 50mm FA 1.4. The vast majority of the time, I leave the FA 1.4 on the body.
I consider myself a novice. I usually try to put the camera on M mode and try and pick my own aperture and shutter speed. Most of the time it takes me a few tries before I get an acceptable shot.
My wife simply wants good pictures and has no patience for Av or M mode, she puts it on the green Auto setting and fires away. With the FA 1.4 lens on the body, while indoors, Auto mode shoots in around 2.0 or 2.4 aperture, which makes the picture she's trying to shoot unintentionally out of focus.

So, my question to all you experts is this.
To make the camera easier for the wife, and in turn make my life easier so I don't have to listen to the 'why is this shot fuzzy' constantly, should I buy an external flash?
or, would the new Pentax K-X along with my FA1.4 lens be a miracle worker ?

Thanks all,
Wonderful community.
Jeff

How to replace broken LCD on Pentax K100D

Hi all,

I have a Pentax K100D, wife dropped it by accident and cracked the rear LCD screen. The camera still takes pictures fine, just the screen is cracked and you can't review photos, change menu options, etc.

I ordered a new LCD screen from Pentax for $65. I was receiving quotes from places to replace the screen anywhere from $170 to $250. I'm pretty technical and think I can figure it out.

Just curiuos if any other Pentaxian has replaced the LCD in the past and would offer any tips?

thanks much!

Hello Konra or others...

Which adapter linked above would you recommend? From other posts I've read, it appears some people have a problem with the generic adapters getting stuck in the body, while OEM adapters from Pentax work much better, but cost more.
Do you know if the two adapters linked above have this problem of getting stuck?
Thanks...jeff

Price increase on 50mm f1.4

Hi All
Noob, and new to the forum, glad I've found a place with so many experts. Just bought a K100D with a 50mm-200mm DA lens.

I'm interested in purchasing the SMC-FA 50mm f/1.4 lens.
I 've found that the price of this lens has gone up in the past couple of weeks, by about $30-$50, ignoring the now expired rebate.
Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 LENS with one year usa warranty |BuyDig.com

Being new to Pentax and digital photography in general, is this common for lens to go up in price?

Does anyone know if the rebate program will be extended again?

Thanks ,
Jeff
