I have the K20D and K-5IIs. Both will shoot still intervals at 1 second. The K20D will only shoot for 99 frames, The K-5IIs, 999. The K20D soesn't do video, and the K-5IIs doesn't do interval video. That's what the K-01 is for.

I had a thought that it would be possible to fit a mechanism in this area to shift the entire sensor system automatically.
It could take bracketed pictures as the sensor is shifted down and to one side, then up, then to the other side, and then down.
Then the image processor automatically stiches it together.
Essentially, every lens is now a shift lens.
This would also fit in with the 40Mp with sensor shift talk. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/237866-pentax-k3-40-mp-via-sensor-shift.html |

Are you filling the memory card?
Does it shut down or just stop taking pictures?

The sync speed doesn't concern me in the least.
When using the camera at full sync shutter speed, the flash duration is the actual amount of time that the subject is lit.
With a Nikon D7000 and SB-900, the max. sync speed is 1/250sec but the flash duration is 1/880sec at full power and 1/1100sec at half power.
The K-5 max sync speed is 1/180sec but the AF540FGZ flash duration is 1/1200sec at full power.

The title of your email, "Pentax K-5 Special", got me all excited. I thought it was an annoucement for a new model. I've been sort of expecting a K-5 SE to be introduced alongside a new entry level model.

Digital Cameras and Accessories - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site
The PentaxUSA site front page is introducing the "New" K-x. Attachment 105759
When you click "Learn More", it takes you to the K-7 page. :o
The top banner does say "Pentax A Ricoh Company". So they are doing some work, but I just keep going back hoping for some sort of communication of what to expect in the future. ...any communication.
Also...
Pentax Japan has a link to the Ricoh Digital Camera site.
Pentax Canada is also showing the K-x.
Pentax Europe and Pentax UK are selling the 645 at 10% off.

While you have thought this through and I agree with most of what you said, I have a problem with this statement...
/rant
Many people actually shy away from Pentax because the lower price for features. They feel there must be a problem with Pentax cameras to be sold at the prices they are.
Pentax's entry level dSLR (K-r), is more expensive than the entry level dSLRs from Canon (XS) and Nikon (D3000). But in features, the Pentax K-r compares closer to their mid-range models, Canon 550D/600D and Nikon D5100, and still costs much less.
While I think Pentax prematurely discontinued the K-x and could use a greater range of models, the offerings for both Canon and Nikon borders on the ridiculous. They have so many models that even their own users are confused as to what camera model is right for them. Canon offers 13 dSLR models at this time, ranging from $550 to $7000. Nikon now sells 10 models ranging from $500 to $8000.
Using B&H for pricing the Pentax K-r kit sells for $625. Between the Canon 1100D/T3 and the Nikon D3100 kit at $599, and the Canon 500D/T1i kit at $649. Another forum (Reddit) I spend time on, anytime those Canon cameras are questioned the Canon users say to stay away from those 2 dSLRs and suggest spending more on an upper range.
For the price of a camera with nearly the same features as the K-r, say the Canon 600D/T3i kit ($899) or Nikon D5100 kit ($800), someone could buy the Pentax K-r with 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 DA-L and 55-300mm DA-L kit for $786 and have money left over for the memory card.
/end rant
I would like to see an expanded lineup for Pentax. Maybe a model like the K-5 without weatherproofing to fill the gap between the K-5 and K-r. And then a full frame model, a full frame with weatherproofing, and a medium format without weatherproofing to fill the huge gap between the K-5 and 645D.
I really think the sale to Ricoh is a good thing and have hope for a more aggressive sales plan and a faster R&D to store shelf roadmap.

Most of the talk so far sounds just like the talk when Pentax brought out the Auto 110. :hmm:
At the time Pentax achieved the smallest interchangeable lens system ever. It was not the best idea because of the small film size. How did that work out?:p
And now they have done it with digital.

I've heard a number of times that Pentax requires a retailer to buy $100,000 in Pentax products to be an accredited dealer. That is a lot of money for a small struggling shop.
Lowering that requirement would mean more exposure and a chance to put the product on shelves so more people could actually touch it before purchasing.

That's an idea, but not worth the hype or $149.00. Move that decimal point to the left.
