I was at a photo convention this weekend and decided to try out 2 lenses: A new Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and a "slightly" used Pentax DA* 50-135 f2.8. I'm trying to decide between the two of them and am completely split on the two after months of research. While, I would love to own the DA*, I've heard it has issues with its auto focus reliability. Today did not help its case: When I tried it, it would not focus. At all. The motors would not engage, yet it would not snap the pic until it detected focus lock (which I had to do myself manually). The auto focus switches on both the lens and the body were both set to auto yet it would not budge. I flicked it back and fourth a few times and worked. So I snapped a few tests.
How big a problem is the auto focus issue with the DA* 50-135? Is the DA* worth the loss in focal length compared to the Sigma?

I guess I didn't give enough info. So here it is...
My priorities are fast and ACCURATE auto focus with decent range. While I'm not looking to shoot wildlife a football field away, I would like more mm if I can get them. I would like weather sealing but not at the expense of IQ. I shoot a lot of indoor events with terrible lighting.
Also, since several of you have mentioned the DA* F4 60-250mm, how good is it for terrible indoor lighting?

I've put this off long enough. I need a good zoom. My efforts have narrowed my search down to the holly trinity:
Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG APOMacro HSM II
Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8
Pentax DA* 50-135mm F2.8
Ok, internet. Which one should I get?
