The best lens i have ever owned

What an impressive list of lenses to choose a favourite from! I have experience/ownership of only some of those mentioned, and in particular (unfortunately) DFA 21 is not included. So I can't comment on that.

But I think the whole point is in these OP's words, "with my type of photography". If e.g. short focal lengts are what you mostly need and use, DFA 150-450 for example will certainly not be your favourite. But it might be definitely the one for a wildlife photographer.

But by what criteria can we define which lens is the "best"? Image quality, versatility, size and handling, or various other parameters? Shouldn't the criteria be dependent on the type of photography or use case? And whatever the criteria is, one's favourite lens is not necessarily the same as one's "best" lens, IMHO.

No, I would not rank DFA 150-450 my own "best" lens, although it's the most expensive I have and I've used it a lot lately. A temporary favourite? Maybe, but I might change my mind as soon I switch to street photography in low-light situations. FA 31 Ltd then? Maybe, while only dreaming of DFA 50 ...

A very good choice - congratulations! I've been using DA*60-250 quite a lot since 2013. It also couples fine with HD DA 1.4x TC if you need longer reach. And I'd say the size is quite understandable concerning the specs and quality of the lens. You'lle get used to it.

The excitement is very well captured. What bothers me - though only a little - is the background giving little context to what is happening and why. However, a very nice picture!

My recommendation is DA 16-85 because its versatility and pretty qood image quality. 16 mm is wide enough for landscape photography in most cases and 85 mm (in APS-C) is a very usable short telephoto lens. And a whole range in between. If you find it second hand at a low price, save the rest of your money for a while to see and learn by experience, what might be a good next step. Maybe even wider focal length, maybe longer, maybe wider aperture, maybe macro? - Happy photographing!

Yes, inspiring how you seek various effects to add value to your photos. This time, I might have liked it even more if the zoom effect was a bit stronger.

Very well stitched and a nice view. 11 shots really sounds a lot - I think you could have managed with 5-6 (portrait form) shots only to achieve about the same?

(Just found this thread today...)
I've got a lot I shoud get rid of, because they've become (almost) redundant....

Well, the last was (almost a year ago), Rear Converter A 1.4x, which I had purchased second hand some ten years ago. I used it sometimes to get more "reach" with my macro lenses, more than for actual telephoto purposes - and so because of the manual focusing.
Reason for selling? Simple: HD DA Rear Converter 1.4x, that I had just bought (second hand) - and now, this has been used a lot for longer reach in telephoto shooting (with DA* 60-250).

I agree with Maurizio about the attention's concentration to the left - and that that the image is great already as it is.:)
I cropped some 20 % from the right (in a temporary screenshot copy, not to be saved) and I think it got better. A bit more dramatical also, as the vertical effect is stronger now. The only negative was, that the person with yellow jacket is now in (horizontally) right the middle, so a bit more right for him/her would be better.

Anyway, hard to say if I had recognized any of this being on the site myself! :hmm:

Dirty? In any case, the photo is a good one, sort of "clean" also.
