Can't say I'm crazy about the cropping, parts of her hair being chopped off and being so close in on the subject. I do like the angelic effect though.

It might be a little easier if you hit the green button to meter, then focus - the metering shouldn't change so long as you don't make major changes to your composition. Also, you can press the OK button to zoom in (thumbwheel selects between x2, x4, andx6), which might make focusing easier. Half-pressing the shutter will un-zoom.

Thank you ibkc and sworks. I think I will need to get a shade for the display - but only for when I'm out of the UK. The sun in Manchester is a rarity!

I really enjoyed looking at all these excellent photos. The K-01 is impressive with all the lenses used taking these pictures. Of course all you shooters look like you know a thing or two about taking great pics.
Thanks for the display. I much prefer viewing wonderful images over the endless debates about lens prices and a full frame.
Once again, nice job to all!

A Barn Owl photographed at the Hawk Conservancy near Andover.
I used the DA 55-300mm at full zoom. Auto focus was sluggish but accurate. The photo was cropped from landscape to portrait orientation.
I'll be adding some more to my Album as I process them.

HDR made with the bracketing feature rather than the in-camera HDR. The lens was my old cheapie 50mm film SLR Rikenon that I love so much.

Having a lot of fun with the K-01 and, especially, the 15mm DA. Sorry in advance for the heavy processing on the following image, but I am loving how much I can flog these RAW files (coming from smaller sensors). =)

Break in the rain for an hour. It has been over 80 degrees all week but we can have a freeze as late as April 20th. Weird sequence of greening and blooming before the birds are back.
DA40 Ltd. Hand held. Neck strap braced kneeling. Focus Peaking QuickShift touch up rather than moving the focus point in menu.

Here are some photos taken with a manual focus lens, the Pentax-A 50/1.4, at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.
The first and last were shot at ISO 1250, the second at ISO 3200.
The absence of an electronic viewfinder is a non issue for me. I find the 3 inch view screen with image magnification and focus peaking superior for manual focusing.

Agreed. We're rolling now. I'm loving the images.
Here are some more I took today at Rocket Park at JSC. Used the DA70, DA40 and DA21. (I sold my 40mm XS as was my original plan, though it's a fine lens - much more capable than a "kit" lens.)

Like the results with that K-01. Thinking about it in the way that you have it. A carry cam instead of my LX5 which doesn't get a lot of use to be honest.
