Interesting...

What do you mean by "drag the shutter"? Not familiar with that term.

Yep, I've got the front dial set that way. And that works. I'm just surprised and confused that the camera doesn't raise the sensitivity enough when flash is on. And yet it does when flash is off.

You are correct, KittyKat -- I am in AutoISO. I could switch to Tv and adjust the shutter speed as need. My front dial is set for sensitivity adjustment, so I think I could crank that up as well until I get a proper shutter speed...

But I don't understand why the exposure line behaves differently with flash on in slow sync.

When not using flash, my k20d in Av mode automatically adjusts the shutter speed and sensitivity so that I get a properly exposed picture with a shutter speed that is fast enough to reduce the possibility of blur.

But I've noticed that when I'm using flash and slow-speed sync, the sensitivity will increase somewhat to compensate for a slower shutter speed, but not enough. The shutter speed is too slow and the sensitivity won't go above 640, even though I've set it's max to 3200. I don't understand why it behaves differently with slow-speed sync flash compared with no flash.

Can anyone explain? :o

So far, my experiments have just been with the pop-up. I do have the 540 external, but haven't used it yet on this camera.

Ok, that makes a lot of sense. But how do I actually do fill-flash? How should I set my exposure. And my flash exposure?

What's the best way to do fill flash with the K20D?

Daytime shooting?

Nighttime shooting?

Thank you!

I was under the impression that I could life my finger off the shutter button, and the camera will continue to evaluate exposure during that time period. Is that true?

I've been using an SLR for years, own the K10D and now the K20D. I've read all the manuals, searched the forums. But I have virtually no understanding of what "exposure metering timer" means.

Can someone please explain it to me?

Thank you,
Michael

k10d multi-point focusing

The K10D as you know comes with a multi-point focusing system. But I find that it sometimes focuses on the "wrong thing". So I have recently switched to the tried and true single-point focusing. That seems fine to me. And even preferred -- focus, recompose, and shoot.

My question? Which focusing do you use and why? Do you have the same issues I do with multi-point focusing? What are the advantages it has over single-point focusing?

Thanks!
