Well, same here. But I can use most of them on most of my old Pentax SLRs and all of them on my Pentax DSLRs.
LIke others, I personally see no need for a new film SLR, given the extensive availability of used ones, often in excellent condition, at ridiculously cheap prices. And note that those cheap prices mean that spare parts already exist in the market because you can just buy a 2nd camera of the same model (but certainly not for all parts; old CdSe-based light meters, for instance). And if they don't, buy a different old SLR.
The point raised that Pentax could support repair by producing CAD models for 3D printers is interesting, too.

The reason I purchased a K-1 mkii is for the low-light performance. For example, see this Flickr album of photos taken anywhere from ISO 10000-65535 at a bar in the Mission District of San Francisco.
While I still love my K-3 and even my K-r, this blows them away for that specific situation (and many others).

I shoot street. Sometimes it's easier, less visible and intrusive to shoot from the hip than with the camera in front of your eye. Use a wide angle lens - I like a 28mm on an APS-C camera like my K-3 (or even wider - this shot is at 10mm), let ISO float, and set aperture priority to a fairly good depth of field. Furthermore, separate focus from the shutter control; the K-3 lets you assign focus to a back button. This makes it easy to focus quickly, or constantly be focusing, then shoot when necessary. A strap for the camera that goes around your right wrist enables you to hold it low so it's less visible to your subjects.

Oh this thread and, jgredline, your shots are always so motivating! So I went out during lunch yesterday to Union Square to shoot some tourists. Pentax-M 100mm f2.8 lens.
First shot they're tearing up bread to feed the birds. The second reveals why. Shortly after this shot, the Union Square Police (groundskeeper) came and told the mom that you're not allowed to feed the birds).

Ah - cool. Thanks for the kudos. Clearly I need to experiment with HDR; this is my first DSLR. I did film long ago (mostly concert photography) but dropped it until I just couldn't stand P&S camera limitations anymore. Your shots are inspiration!

Gads, they look like toy cameras. Dammit, if I'm gonna spend $600+ on a camera I want it to look like a real camera! My K-r is BLACK. I would tolerate some metal (chrome, aluminum, stainless steel all show up in my old film SLRs. along with their BLACK bodies..I even have an ancient Graflex that's part wood...but it's BLACK!). Not white. Not red. Not blue. And certainly NONE of these, dagnabit!
Maybe they think these will appeal to the youngsters with a spare $600 to throw around. All I can say is Good Luck With That. Oh yeah, and Get Off My Lawn!

This is my first time looking at this thread (just got the K-r 6 weeks ago and am learning how to use it, and joined this board at the same time) and I'm REALLY impressed by the quality of the photography! The medium is, of course, second to none. But the talent here is very impressive. I'll try to rise to the level you people set!
Anyway, just got attachments to connect my K-r to my old Meade ETX-90 telescope. So tonight's moon was the first celestial subject. The telescope is a 1250mm, f13.8 lens. The exposure was 1/320 s, ISO 800. PP done in Lightroom to fix brightness, contrast and noise.
When I get a wireless remote that should enable longer exposures at lower ISOs, and maybe non-smudge-like pictures of Saturn and other, larger, bodies.

Unbelievable negativity! Guys, do you realize that Pentax engineering is in Japan? Do you have A CLUE what happened there a month ago? Do you think you should maybe back off? Go return the blasted camera if this is such a problem. I'll tell you, I live in an earthquake zone; I have clients in both Christchurch and Tokyo. What happened in Japan was - and still is - very disruptive, more so than the Christchurch quake and way more so than anything I've been in. People in Japan have hardly had an opportunity to begin to get back to normal and you can expect problems and delays for the next 6 months to a year - Tokyo is facing major power shortages this summer so companies are trying to deal with that too. So be patient.
