Well, same here. But I can use most of them on most of my old Pentax SLRs and all of them on my Pentax DSLRs.
LIke others, I personally see no need for a new film SLR, given the extensive availability of used ones, often in excellent condition, at ridiculously cheap prices. And note that those cheap prices mean that spare parts already exist in the market because you can just buy a 2nd camera of the same model (but certainly not for all parts; old CdSe-based light meters, for instance). And if they don't, buy a different old SLR.
The point raised that Pentax could support repair by producing CAD models for 3D printers is interesting, too.

The reason I purchased a K-1 mkii is for the low-light performance. For example, see this Flickr album of photos taken anywhere from ISO 10000-65535 at a bar in the Mission District of San Francisco.
While I still love my K-3 and even my K-r, this blows them away for that specific situation (and many others).

I have exactly that same setup - the original K-3, the Tamron 28-75 (Tamron SP AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF)) and 70-200 (Tamron AF 70-200mm f/2.8 (IF) MACRO LD Di SP A001). I never had that kind of problem with these lenses on that camera, the K-r, or, more recently, the K-1 Mk II. The lenses are very sharp, particularly the 70-200 stopped down a little, on all three cameras.
If you're going to borrow a sharp lens to test the camera, get a fast 50; I have the F 1.7, which is incredibly sharp stopped down, as is the manual SMC 1.4. My bet is that it's your K-3 that needs some adjustment.

I'm certainly looking forward to it and am very excited! While it's not perfect for all my uses I'm sure it'll be great for most.

K-1 Mark ii is $1699. Get a free battery grip with coupon code FREEBG6. I just got it - upgrading from the venerable workhorse K-3.

Thanks for the tip. I may have to rent the KP and the K-1 to do a shoot-out under my use conditions...and drag my friend with the Alpha 7 III along.

Who is "all the rest"? Not me, to be sure. AF is not a consideration - I shoot single point AF in low light situations or in reasonable light with a fast shutter speed. K-1 low light performance is good; it's much better than my K-3, which is embarrassingly inadequate when put up against the Sony Alpha 7 III. But the K-1, I fear, is well behind the Sony (and future Sony Alphas will decimate the low light competition). If K-new meets that, I stay with Pentax. Otherwise you'll probably see my equipment in the marketplace.

#1 is great, but composition leaves much to be desired.
#13 is also excellent, and very exciting, but I think it could have been processed better - it's a bit dark.
Having kicked those out, among all these really quite great photos my favorites FWIW are #7, #8 (despite the presence of a watermark), #14 and #15.

I shoot street. Sometimes it's easier, less visible and intrusive to shoot from the hip than with the camera in front of your eye. Use a wide angle lens - I like a 28mm on an APS-C camera like my K-3 (or even wider - this shot is at 10mm), let ISO float, and set aperture priority to a fairly good depth of field. Furthermore, separate focus from the shutter control; the K-3 lets you assign focus to a back button. This makes it easy to focus quickly, or constantly be focusing, then shoot when necessary. A strap for the camera that goes around your right wrist enables you to hold it low so it's less visible to your subjects.

I have not bought a new Pentax lens because I can get used ones, primarily manual, for far less with great image quality. Still, I would love to be able to afford a couple of the new Pentax lenses but these ridiculous prices are simply too high! So I am in!

Love that shot, chrish!
This is Robyn Hitchcock, taken during his set last Saturday at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. Taken with the 55-300 DA-L lens.

While I didn't really take this shot for the bokeh, it's not bad. Plus it shows the sheer awesomeness of the wonderfully inexpensive DA-L 55-300mm lens. Now, this is two bubbles; it is a sort of technical "tour de force" by the hippie bubble blower: the bottom one is filled with smoke (you may speculate on the smoke's origin) while the top one is not.
