But at this point Pentax is a retro camera line though. And an excellent one!

Nah, you're here forever. I tried leaving too once. And I'm just one of so many people that came back because the other side just misses "something".

Thanks for pressuring me so hard into buying this lens. :D:lol:

All jokes aside, this was definitely my best Pentax purchase to date. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Due to the close focusing capabilities it can do so much more then just landscapes.

Focusing issues were mentioned somewhere in this thread. I've shot 500 photos now with it, but all my focusing errors are definitely due to user error.

It's an extremely capable lens, and it's going to take a while for me to be able to use fully.

There's a HD version of the 43 though. I have it. It is excellent. It is actually noticeably better then the standard FA version.

These two pictures are both so much better then the example picture in the Pentax.eu shop! These are fantastic! For some reason for the pictures on the Pentax shop I just don't know where the focus is.

No, I can't find it in photos. Not even if I focus all my autism on finding it. You're going to say that I should just leave it. And you're right. But I still want it gone. Especially if it turns out to be a very simple procedure. That's why I'm trying to find out how to do it.

Selling regrets

Thanks everybody for the advise.

I've been able to resolve the issue for the buyer. I advised him to disable all in-camera processing options. And that resolved the issue. There was indeed a very big delay. And I never noticed that because I always shot RAW only. Prior to the sale I reset the camera to factory defaults & put it on green mode which effectively enabled all the processing.

But I do need to refrain from selling stuff until I get my anxiety under control again.

:o

Covering the OVF resolves all issues! I hadn't thought of that, because that wasn't necessary with my K-5. The viewfinder of the K-1 is much larger and brighter of course, and lets in much more light through the other direction too.

I'm so happy that my camera isn't broken. Embarrassed, but happy.

Nice thread! Good timing too, I'll explain later on...

After driving very economic Volkswagens and Audi's since I got my license I finally switched. Volkswagen and Audi have this reputation of high durability and low maintenance cost. To put it as nicely as possible: Mine just didn't live up to that reputation. Second hand or new, didn't really make a difference. So I figured I could just as well drive a car that I really like.

Last year I bought myself a black&chrome Alfa Romeo Mito 1.6 JDTM with 164hp.

What I like:

The Mito's driving experience is absolutely excellent. It's the fastest car I've ever owned. It looks and feels very luxurious. The ride is extremely smooth. No rattles, no noises. (Very important for my borderline-autistic self.) I don't even hear the soaring of the wheels on the road. I find it beautiful too, both interior and exterior. It's a tiny car that makes it's 18" rims look giant. It fits me like a glove, loads of room in front, very little in the back.

Things I don't like:

The lighting was a bit dim. But I quickly fixed that with an aftermarket HID kit. Both the low beams and fog lights are the same HIDs now. So pretty now!

After years of driving cars that don't top 60hp, this feels like a catapult. I've thaught myself to always floor it, otherwise I just couldn't keep up with traffic. I find it hard to not do that anymore. It's so much fun.

The suspension is very 'sporty'. The ride is super-smooth on our smooth asphalt roads. But when the quality of the road is bad then I feel it too! So not really a dislike, but something that hangs in the middle.

Another thing that I don't like is Alfa's bad reputation. I know I chose an underdog again. (I tend to do that (Pentax?)) And I vastly prefer an unjustified bad reputation and be pleasantly surprised, over VW's unjustified good reputation. But this is a bit over the top. Each and every time I proudly present my car to someone, or tell someone about it, they either roll their eyes or get this strange look. And they tell me all about how they knew someone, somewhere at some point in time that also had an Alfa that was really very high maintenance. They say they rust, leak oil and what not. They "wouldn't want one even if it was given for free." I researched a bit and it's partly true, during the 70's and 80's they really were very bad. Obviously they had to change that and they did. I came to the conclusion though those troubles belong completely in the past. I even know people that swear they're the most realiable brand currently, because they have this bad rep to get rid of. But the bias against AR is really getting to me. (A bit a CaNikon fanboy still thinking all Pentax cameras are still suffering from the sensor stain issue.)

Obviously, I'm comfortable with telling you guys all this because as fellow Pentaxians I know you are able to look past such silly bias...

...but what's even worse, I think I'm not going to be able to prove them wrong! Last Tuesday, I brought my car in for the yearly checkup and maintenance. They quoted me 1200 euros (~1500USD?) in repairs! Both front wheel stabilizers, both front wheel bearings and a back seatbelt. Parts costing peanuts, but very costly in labor. I find it unbelievable that so many things can deteriorate during only one year. Also, I know what bad bearings and stabilizer sound like, and I don't hear anything! So, I'm bringing it in for a checkup at a different garage, as a second opinion next week. I really hope it will be less! I hate it when other things get in the way of lens purchases!!

EDIT:
So, the second opinion turned out quite well. At a different garage my car passed the MOT. I even got a free 3rd opinion, because a it was selected for a spot-check by the state. Even the civil servant agreed it to be roadworthy without needing any repairs. So, I just dodged getting ripped off. It's very sad that some people have to make their money this way!

Yes, that actually really is what I want. For some reason all development has halted in digital photoframes for quite some time now. The technology is stuck in 2007. I am missing a wireless, rechargable, digital, high-res true-colour, ultra-flat, smart photo frame. I'm not even joking, printing really sucks.

Hobby Diversification... what other fun things do you do to pass the time?

Another nice forumtopic! I'll join in:

My reef aquarium is actually my primary hobby. It holds 600 liters of salt water and is completely stacked with corals and a few fish. I keep the fish count low so the water remains ultra pure at all times and the fish have lots of living space. The corals grow like crazy under the 800watts of Chineze full spectrum LEDS. And the pristine water makes the corals show all the colours they could possibly show. I'm always clipping them and creating frags to trade or sell of fellow enthusiasts. Currently I'm into automating everything as much as possible. I want it to function almost autonomously for our holiday next year. Requiring only daily checks from the holidays-assistant. And looking for automating-solutions and building things is almost a hobby in itself!

Some of my corals:
Heliofungia Actiniformis sp by Wilfried van Oosterhout, on Flickr

Caulustrea by Wilfried van Oosterhout, on Flickr

Tubastrea Faulkneri by Wilfried van Oosterhout, on Flickr

Goniopora Minor by Wilfried van Oosterhout, on Flickr

And then there's gaming. I grew up with computers and gaming and that side of me never really matured. Currently I'm playing the free-to-play Rift. It's a beautifully designed MMORG like World of Warcraft, only many times better, imho.

Reading: I recently discovered how many Star Wars novels there really are! I love them!

That's about it. I keep it limited, because if I have to follow everything that I'm interested in then I'll be sleep-deprived, broke and divorced in no-time.

Exactly like EVF vs OVF. The OVF its mirror has not much where to go anymore. But the current best EVFs are already better and are still in their infancly.

Like zooming via the VF to focus more accurately? Oh, no wait you can't do that in an OVF. Focus peaking then? No... Err, video in the eye level VF? Displaying Histograms during composition? Instant review of taken picture in the VF? The list goes on and on...

After Canon and Contax now an autofocus Nikon F to Sony E-mount adapter is coming up: New Nikon F to Sony E-mount electronic autofocus adapter coming soon! | sonyalpharumors

So yes the A7rII is expensive... But when switching systems to Sony you save bigtime on not having to get rid of your entire lens lineup and re-buying it again. Taking the cost and hassle away of switching systems is the way Sony is realling new users in.

A PK to Sony E-mount will be a bit more complicated due to the screwmount I think... But if it does appear, think of the impact!

What could be 'different' about Pentax FF?

This is a very appealing idea. True monochrome sensors, infra red sensors, full spectrum sensors. Big/small sensels, ultra high iso performance, or ISO25. And a Q-sensor module in a K-mount body with DA* 300 means retaining AF at how many mm equivalent? A small camera body, with 3 sensors and three small primes already results in 9 combinations. Limitles possibilities for the users and a very appealing aftermarket sales oppertunity for marketing as well. That's why, if it was really possible then it would already have been done. The engineering aspects pose the biggest problem. And what's going to stop e.g. Sony from providing aftermarket sensors for our Pentax camera bodies? It would require Pentax to enforce some kind of encryption between sensor module and camera. Ewww...
