Iīve got the K10D with firmware 1.3 here. No, I donīt have the international warranty card and the guys from adorama suggested me first to contact the pentax tech support before they can provide me returning instructions.

Pentax Service Australia? DA*16-50 FF/BF

Hi mates,

last week I received my DA*16-50 from adorma and I found out that it has got frontfocus problems at wide open and sometimes it doesnīt even find any focus.

As I am going to Europe next months and next week traveling to Cairns and back to Sydney, Iīm not sure what to do now.

I asked adorama for a replacement and I thought about to bring the lens to the pentax-service here in Australia. How long will it take?

I just want to go for the faster option as I am a little bit in a hurry.

Cheers, mates.

Denny

Got my one from adorama and obviously it is not a very good copy. At 2.8 and 16mm I have to take a couple of shots to get a sharp image. At 16mm and 4.5 everything is fine.

Serial number is 9019078.

Itīs ridiculous what pentax is doing. After that long time I thought everything should be fine now, but itīs not, and they didnīt even recall all the lenses. Why? Instead of recalling, they brought the K20D which has the focus correction thing. How stupid is that?

Gīday,

if buying online from adorama.com, do they want to see a copy of my credit card like b/h as well?

Gīday Bulent,

I think you will loose your warranty if youīre updating with a hacked firmware. But Iīm not too sure....

Underwater housing for K10d

Hi,

there is another housing for the K10D. Itīs called blue-box and is manufactured by bruderuw-technick in Germany. But I wouldnīt recommend to purchase a housing there. That thing is not worth the money, neither itīs a german quality product. Itīs very cheap, and so is itīs quality....

Another manufacturer from germany worth asking: BS Kinetics GmbH - Unterwassergehäuse, Underwater housings, Underwater housing, tauchen, diving or BS Kinetics GmbH - Unterwassergehäuse, Underwater housings, Underwater housing, tauchen, diving

Housings from UKgermany are appropiate and very good quality, but they are looking like a bread box and they are heavy. Compared to other well-known housing-manufacturers, you have to pay a lot for what you get. Thatīs comprehensible as UKgermany is a sole distributor and there is no competition on the market for K10D-underwaterhousings so he can ask for money as much as he wants.

I know he just overhault the present K10D housing to fit in a K20D. Especially with the live-view it is a nice feature for underwater shooting and no need anymore for UK-Germany very, very, very expensive view-finder. The view-finder usually is half the costs of the housing..... Thatīs why I didnīt bought a housing from UKgermany

Anyway, I will just keep waiting for better prices or other manufacturers as Iīd really like to take the K10D or K20D underwater.

Here is a test report from Herbert Frei, but itīs in german: UK-GERMANY Pentax K10D

Hi mates,

I just guess the quality problems with this lens should now have been resolved. What do you think? Is it still risky to buy this lens or not?

So far I still donīt understand why Pentax didnīt paged a product recall like other manufacturers...

I donīt think they will do it.

Anyway, if there might be somthing wrong with the DA*, where do I have to go in Sydney/Australia? Itīs not a problem for me to bring in the lens, unless there is a international warranty card...

What about customs duty in Australia?
