This tree is located on Cade's Cove Loop in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. My husband and I had taken our twin girls sight seeing when half way around the loop I saw a hill that if stood on I could see more of the mountains. I climbed the hill to snap a photo when I saw this tree standing alone in the distance. That's when I knew I'd found the tree I wished to enter in the Pentax Tree Theme Contest.

luftfluss,
Yeah the "soft @ 300 is what I do not want.......I want sharp clear @ 300. This is why I have chosen to be so picky about what I purchase. I am checking out all the use ratings, what photographers have to say and seeking y'alls advice beforehand. Just wish there were the PERFECT/Affordable wide range walk around lens ;)

I have heard about lenses being "piggy-backed". How does that work? and what are the pros/cons of doing that verses carrying separate lenses?

Normhead, I don't really have what I call a walk around lens. I have been carrying my 18-55mm kit lens along with a 80-200mm. I would prefer one with more range. I am so random LOL I will want to take a photo of my children, turn and capture a macro shot of a spider then aim for a bird in a tree.

This question is targeted to the "seasoned photographers"
I am interested in the Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DG IF Macro Aspherical.
About Me:
*Pentax K-7
*I like to shoot macro to long distance wild life
Could someone tell me the pros/cons of this lens?
and
What would be a comparable/more suitable (if so) lens is out there that I should consider.
Thanks a BUNCH!

I have a photo of my this lens in my photo album:
It's a Pentax 60 300mm PK A & R PK Macro Zoom https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/members/arimage-albums-my-lenses-picture1...macro-zoom.jpg
I am not sure how other's would have it listed (if it is the same)
I sure would be grateful for any/all resources available.
Oh and I come to find that there are settings (in my Pentax K-7 menu) that must be set for certain features to work.....I see there are several things I must learn. But, I am in for the long haul. love my camera and will invest whatever time needed to learn all I can.

K57XR,
Actually I have no documentation on this particular lens as I bought it second hand off eBay. It seems to be a great lens......I just have to learn how to use it properly :p
anyone knowing where I can learn more about this lens, I'd love to know of some resources & tutorials.

Boriscleto........thank you SO MUCH!! as a newbie I really didn't know what to search to get results, thus in desperation I had to post.........your reply was ever so helpful!
RESOLUTION: Apparently I just wasn't twisting with the right amount of force.........after reading here on the forums I discovered it was OK to give it a super good tug! I didn't want to break anything......but have found that that I bought quality, not to be easily broken :)
Thank you for your reply and willingness to help me out.

Ok, my Pentax K-7 has arrived-woot!
I purchased a lens:
I aligned the "red dot" just as I had the lens that came with my Pentax and came up with an error, the lens isn't aligned correctly or something.
So, I proceed to take the lens off (using the release button and twist the lens) however, the lens will not come off.
can anyone help?

Singing to the tune, "Tomorrow, Tomorrow, It's Only a Day Away."
I did go ahead and set the stage today.......I put out 4 fresh bird feeders.......I know I had 4-5 different species come to feed and the sky has been simply breath taking the past few days.

Hello, my name is Angie. I am new to Pentax. After doing much research I learned that the Pentax K-7 was the best choice for my budget. I placed my order on 2/19/2011 and hope to have it within the next couple of days. From what I have read about the Pentax K-7 it is an awesome DSLR camera with no known complaints/issues. I have only heard good reports and have seen some outstanding test shots posted here in the "photo" section.
I love photography and am looking forward to posting my own review as well as test shots.
