So it looks like I am resurrecting an old topic, but I thought that was better than starting a new thread on the subject. Hopefully a few pentaxians out there can help me out!
I am weighing my options on buying a DA* 50-135, and with the used one not being much less than new I have decided to go the "new" route. I have noticed in my price searching that most everyone lists this lens for sale at $999 and up. Pretty standard from B&H, Amazon, Adorama, ect. I noticed however, that Cardinal camera is selling the same lens (I think the same . . .) for $899.
It just begs the question, why is the price $100 LESS from cardinal camera??
Is there a not-so-good "import" version of this lens? I would think there isn't given that this is Pentax's flagship series, but who knows these days!!
Thanks

As jmschrei mentioned, theatrical filters (made by Lee, Gam, and Rosco for a few) would be really interesting to use for this. I have just been getting into strobe work, and I am looking to try some of this. I was a Technical Theater major at college for a while (made the better choice to change my major) and I used 'gels' a lot for lighting. One of my professors is saving a bunch of scraps for me just to try strobe lighting.
I know a lot of photo / theater suppliers sell big sheets of gel paper (for big $$ too), but I think that if you stopped by your local / college theater they would be willing to save a pile of scraps for youl!
Has anyone used gels on a flash for dramatic lighting?

I have never seen any SD device that allowed wireless connection to a network until now. The Connect X2 seems to have a lot packed into an SD package. I am especially intrigued by the geo tagging feature. From reading up on Eye-Fi's website, it appears that this feature works through the greater wireless network system. They claim that 70% of the population of the US covered. This is done through known WiFi hotspots like airports, Panera, McDonalds ect. The Eye-Fi does not need to connect to the network, but can determine its location from them.
-- now to the interesting questions and places this would be useful. The statement that 70% of the "population" is covered (What is Geotagging? | Eye-Fi) lends to some confusion. The tags will be present and correct when the user is in a location with a wireless network, but what happens when the user is in a remote location with no wireless?? (and lets face it, unless the user lives in NYC or some other large city, the true coverage will be spotty!) I think it would be interesting to test this feature, and truly determine how good this function works. If a user was to look at the accuracy of the geo tags over a year or more of use -- both in Urban and rural locations, good data could be collected on how well it works. It would be amazing to be able to geo tag every photo I take, however if I need to correct most of the geo data imprinted on each photo, this feature may not be too useful. Definitely worth testing, I hope I come to own one of these to find out how this cool feature works!
