The rental K7 comes to my door today!

Vievetrick, I was truly tempted to rent the K7 when I saw it on CLR's site - however I already had rented two lenses (Pentax 50-250 f4 and Sigma 70-200 f2) from them this summer and have unfortunately met my self-imposed rental quota for this quarter.

I'll be sure to follow your example - albeit without the token acknowledgement to sudden gravitational pull :-).

I too have been very, very impressed with the professional and courteous help from the team at CLR. I would recommend them to anyone on the forum!

Heyta Dylan!

I was just browsing the forum and saw your post - thanks for the mooi photos of Umhlanga! This "sowfefrican" girl misses the beauty and cuisine of her homeland! Oh for some boerewors and chutney!:D

I often pull up my photos - particularly of Cape Town - to visit from afar.
Thanks again for rekindling soft memories of Natal evenings and salty winds.:)

Lightroom or Lightzone?

I'm another LightZone fan! I have PSE6 as well as Painter - each of them have their strengths. LZ is so intuitive - very, very easy to get into.
Yes, it [I]is[I] a smaller company so there might be a hickup or two for some users, no literature published by parent companies, etc. but they do seem to bring out improvements quite frequently and the end product is amazingly deceptive!
Aren't all good ideas the same - simple interface, logical approach to a single niche area?

Has anybody used a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet?

Heather, years back I bought and used a small Graphire. In relocating I gave it away to a friend.

Recently I bought a refurbished Wacom Intuos from academicsuperstore and I LOVE it!
It have a bunch of programmable buttons. It makes photo editing much, much easier - especially when working up close or in detail.
I use it extensively with Corel Painter - what bliss! It is indispensible with LightZone and PSE6.

Only concern I've had - sometimes you need to calibrate the pen - if the tablet is located near a printer or monitor, there seems to be some type of interference. Only had to do that once or twice in the past four months - so it might not be the issue and even an issue!

I would definitely recommend the Wacom to any photogrpaher / artist - start small if you're new to them.

Well, I heard that the order couldn't be placed because the store doesn't have any stock - ha!
Anyhoo - I guess I have my own roadmap. . .
a fast(2.8) 200+ with either a Tamron or Pentax TC.

Thanks for all the advice - too many lenses too few pennies!

Well, I've done a bunch of reading and some buying too!
I've ordered the Tamron - most probably paid more than I could elsewhere - but I don't dare wait - with my luck there won't be anymore anywhere else!
I'll buy the 200mm next and save up for whatever else appears on the roadmap - perhaps even the Pentax TC (I think I'll do some comparison tests then).

Thank you for the reference to the Tamron thread - it's been very helpful :)

Hi all!

I have saved my pennnies and am contemplating purchasing a lens to "extend my reach" beyond my DA 50-200mm. I will primarily use it for photographing children at school events (where I work) for parents and administrative use. The venues will range from a large, florescent auditorium with green walls (!) to field events - shots of formal functions through fun activities.

I am contemplating the following:

Sigma 100-300 F4
Pentax DA* 200 F2.8
Pentax DA* 300 F4

[I]and[I] I would like to add in the use of a GOOD teleconverter.

I've noticed that some of the Sigma teleconverters indicate they won't work well with anything below F2.8 in automatic mode. Is this truly an issue?
I've also looked for Pentax TC's - but found only the one for digital lenses and none in supply!
I am also curious about the quality of Kenko's TC's - which is the better?

What do [I]ya'll[I] suggest I invest in?

Thanks in advance for your input and advice!

77mm Black or Silver

Hi there everyone!
I received mine today from Adorama - ordered on Monday. What a beautiful, black piece of craftsmanship! It's heavier than my 16-45 and 50-200, but just shouts quality, from its bag, lined cap and built-in hood!
I have already taken every shot my family will tolerate or stay in one place for!

I personally chose the black over the silver, just love the continuity of one solid instrument dedicated to beautiful images.
