Here's the first few I've dared to share here...*gulp*.

Out and about at a waterside market here in North Vancouver.

All taken handheld (wow..harder than I imagined on a blustery day!)with a Tamron SP 23A 60-300.
Slight sharpening in PSE 11, some cropping and contrast.

Thanks, Jean!

I think this collection will do me quite well for my purposes.
It seems most of these lenses are at least somewhat well regarded in Pentax-land.

I know the PKA adapters are rare....and pricey-ish.
But...I'll get one eventually.

The lenses etc I kept are:
A Vivitar 2x22 converter
2 sets of Vivitar extension tubes (AT-3A and AT-22)
SMC M50 1.4
SMC M 150 3.5
Sigma 16 2.8 Fisheye
Tamron SP 23A 60-300

The nice thing is he was very picky about storage etc with his lenses, so there is next to no visible dust anywhere in them!

I also have the 40mm pancake I got in the K-01 kit, and the 18-55 WR that came with the K-30.

Looking at older photos of his lens/camera collection, he had some other lenses, but must have sold them in the past 7 years or so.
All in all....not a bad collection, in my beginner eyes.

I've been a member here since Feb 2011. I had just purchased a k100d. I went with Pentax because my dad was a Pentaxian from way back, and he offered me a few of his lenses. I never really took that many pictures, or learned much about photography. The camera just sat in a closet, gathering dust.
My dad passed away Jan 2nd of this year, and I inherited most of his photo belongings. I got some really nice lenses, some of which I would never use. (a 600mm Novoflex from the mid 70's as an example.) Well, after trading in and swapping some of those items including the K100d, I now own a K-30, and a K-01, and a few of dads' lenses I kept. I've been fiddling with a few of dads' older manual lenses and the veil of confusion re: aperature, ISO, shutter speed, depth of field, etc is slowly being lifted. I am really enjoying my Tamron SP 23A 60-300, and it is forcing me to concentrate on the aforementioned details.
I'll never be the photographer my dad was, but I often think of him as I become more involved in this hobby.

CHEERS ALL!

I just purchased a minty Tamron SP 60-300, about 6 hours ago.
After a day out with it, I think I've fallen in love.

Sharp and "predictable", if that makes sense.
I think this will be the one.

My bad. Sorry all.
I should have included this in the Henry's thread.

I'm not familiar with the cameras, just thought I'd post for those that are.
It seems Henry's is out of stock on some items...not sure about Kerrisdale Cameras.

I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough to comment on the choice of lenses, but I can express my jealousy! What an excellent gift.
I look forward to your shots, and your adrenaline fueled commentary on the flight.

disneybride,

I live in Vancouver, Canada.
I got my K-01 from a chain called London Drugs. I have shopped with them for years, and always had great service, selection and pricing.
They matched an out of stock price listing from Ontario.($269.00 CDN body and 40mm pancake).
Price on London Drugs shelf was $419.00CDN.
I got the last one in the store I went to, and the other location I frequent is also sold out.

Sorry to hijack this thread folks.

Why did you buy a K-01?

I bought a K-30 with the 18-55WR kit in the middle of December. I was choosing between the K-01 and the K-30 back then.
I have a few DA lenses and 4 or 5 legacy lenses inherited from my dad.
Picked up a new K-01 with the 40mm pancake yesterday because it would have been wrong not to get it for the price it is at now.
Plus, it seems to be getting hard to find them as they are disappearing from shelves.
I love this camera.

I like it so much, got a K-01 with the 40mm pancake yesterday, for a ridiculously inexpensive price.
