Well, welcome back to the Mac! My dad got an Apple II+ when I was a kid back around '83 or '84. The next year for X-max got an INTERNAL modem for probably about as much as a new Mac and it required a Kensington fan to cool down the raw power (before there was an internet, as we know it)! I thinks your pics will only be better...

Nice! I'm just about in the earth's opposite (summer begins tomorrow) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Love your "winter"! Wish my winter was as lush. Great pics and you're doing it proper. Old school lens and an awesome subject, even in "winter" is lovely. Kudos, and thanks for sharing!

Well I really hate to point out the obvious, but if you have problems with multiple Tamrons AND multiple Pentax lenses, include the to two DA limiteds as you noted in addition to other Pentax lenses, just maybe the problem is with the camera bodies? Just saying...

I have a K-5, and a K-3II. Both are pristine and although noticeable in both, the K-5 does and always has made more of a CLUNCK but never a problem.

Hmmmm...just get a Mac...check out Craig's List in you area and get a slightly used iMac, it's wroth it. I have a late 2009 27" iMac. I pulled out the HDD and replaced with a 2 TB HDD, put in 12 GB of RAM for cheap and it runs better than any new model PC. The display is not a 4K but is beautiful - calibrated with my ColorMonkey.

My take, IMHO, go at it like a rock concert. Mount the Sigma 18-35 f1,8, and get close like your shooting for Rolling Stone at a show, and move with the performers. The images will be unique, better, and more personal vs. being stationary on a tripod from a longer distance.

An amazing story. Solid work. We are all better to take a moment and think about how this heroic and horrible moment in history affected the roles of all people of the time, and how they came through.

Okay, I can't help it; there's three not one. But, I did this "Dogtography" charity event and these pups were just awesome! Especially Harvey the one-eyed rescue dog who was sporting his Ramones t-shirt! It's Harvey, Oakley, and Luna with her forever Mom...All shot with my K-3II by the way.

I have a K-5 in awesome condition, with all originals (box, strap unused, battery charger, good battery, etc) don't use it since my K-3II. Make me a reasonable offer and it's yours. Wasn't thinking about selling but I don't really need it; seriously perfect condition. I'm in Minnesota, if that matters. Happy holidays!

The selection is likely based on the aesthetic of the camera, which is awesome compared to the others. Pentax way beats the Leica on this one.

I don't have the Pentax D FA WR 100, but I do have the Tamron 90 SP F2.8 - it's not weather sealed but it is magical and easier to obtain at a good price new or used...

I don't have a 654N (but I am envious!), perhaps it means 1/350? Try that and I bet it will work for you. What an awesome device you have, have a good time with it!

Sorry, nothing of value in my response. But, I just have to know what happened to the gnarly flash on the left (the Pentax)?

I don't have a K-1. I do have a K-3II and a Rokinon 85mm f1.4. It's tough to learn but magical. Just saying...it's cheap and effective, a contender I would recommend IMHO. I also have a Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di which is a tough rival but in a different way!

Thanks all for the great feedback - glad I posted! Vanya, your right, I do need the charger, I just thought with no autofocus my batteries last a very long time and the less items the better. Looks like I really need to bring the DA* 16-50, didn't think about the dust factor! Going to keep the A 135 too for some reach and I always seem to pull off outstanding images with it. Hopefully nothing melts in the 100 degree temp, the Pentax gear will likely hold up better than me...

Ok, I'm taking a long needed vacation to sunny Arizona tomorrow. I am thinking just old school lenses - no auto focus. My kit: K-3II, A 28 2.8; M 50 1.7; A 135 2.8, a small bag, two batteries, two 32 GB SD cards, and two fully charged batteries, no charger - that's it. Good???

Yep...what stevebrot said. I deal with a strangely similar 60 Hz issue at my work in a neuroscience laboratory (60 Hz artifacts in USA, 50 Hz everywhere else). Probably a pointless question, but did you use a lens hood?

Too funny, my wife who finds me to be a complete nerd, which I secretly am, actually has come to enjoy my photo outings. I just have to make it fun for her, and she now calls it "Photo Safari" which is kind of cool because without me even bringing it up she will now even plans for the upcoming weekend to go on a Photo Safari. The challenge, which she likes, is just finding some place that SHE will find interesting to explore (and if she can bring the dog that helps). Then, find an out of the way place to have a cocktail and some food and explore the local culture - Photo Safari rocks and my wife likes it because she feels involved and can pick the location and subject, and she also has dubbed herself Location Manager and Chief Photo Assistant (i.e. she gets to carry my bag with water bottle)...after safari cocktails help too.

I've been in similar situations and found the DA* 16-50 f2.8 to work well.
