Beautiful images but some of the B&W look a little oversharpened. I really like the monumental size feeling in #1.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been reading about stains and autofocus problems with K5s, it's all a bit concerning. I do realise models can have issues on first release but the auto focus one seems quite bad. The stain issue appears to be resolved, I think.

It will be a little while before I am in a position to buy, so hopefully any problems will be worked out.

Purple fringing - is it more prevalent on the K5?

Does the K5 have an adjustable viewfinder dioptre (Canon did and my medium format camera do). It is usually an adjustable ring round where you put your eye. I found this really useful once I got to 40+ and needed reading glasses. At least I can see what's in the viewfinder clearly and know if I am in focus or not even if I have to put the reading glasses on to view the result on the back screen!

Inexpensive and Decent Tripods

Inexpensive and decent in one sentence is an oxymororn - such a tripod does not exist. Save up and get something decent and reliable like a Manfrotto 190B, or a similar type in a good brand like Gitzo or Benbo. Cheap usually equals junk.

I am just here to have a look about and see if I might buy into a K5 system. My thoughts were K5, DA10-17, 17-70 & 60-250.

This all depends on having the necessary $$$ of course!

I'm a long term shooter, my main gear is medium format digital, I formerly used canon and very happy with it, but this is just my speculation at the moment.

I'll be interested to have a look about here and see what I can see.

Cheers, Odille
