Great framing, love the tone this has as well. Depth of field is excellent.

Well seen, well framed, well taken. Splitting the image into two almost identical halves top and bottom works really well here. Who needs a rule of thirds, eh? This image could really pop on a metal print.

Some good, some not so much for me. Clearly I'm too old-school, but at the very least, I'd expect sharpness and some eye contact, except if there's an exceptional composition. Portrait sessions during a club outing, well, that's just so easy, the way I remember if from 30 years ago. Overall, though, the standard of the initial set of submissions was well below par for me. OK, shoot me down now, I didn't enter myself, I'm not good enough at portraits to deem any that I have ever taken as enter-worthy.

That Martin looks pin-sharp! I really like the composition, but on my monitor I find myself a bit distracted by the exposure on his face, esp. forehead, and arm. I'd try and do local adjustments where I pull back the highlights ever so slightly, as it looks as if there is some detail that can be drawn out. I'm just not fond of blown or almost-blown highlights, although they can sometimes have a great effect on an image. Excellent separation of Dave and his Martin from the background, it looks as if there are adjustments to it and they are well done, even though still just visible. Good stuff!

This is excellent, like a perfectly executed pen-and-ink drawing. Framing contributes brilliantly.

Really wonderful pics, fully confirming that I may have probably bought too much camera with my DSLR! I have a Q as well, and am enjoying the freedom for creativity and spontaneity it affords me.

Have this lens and have no issues with flare. I always, always use the hood, but then I do that with all my lenses.

You remove the "trap door", as you name it, to rotate filter rings on, e.g., a circular polarizer, without having to remove the hood or poke your fingers through the front of the hood to rotate it. Very useful when needed, but easily lost once removed, so make sure to place it in your camera bag or a pocket on your clothing.

Some pics from a concert last year. Just made some quick edits to each. Enjoyed the flexibility of the 06, and the 01 was fun to use as well. No problems bringing the camera with lenses in. Not for pixel-peepers, I'm sure, but great memories of these outstanding musicians. Chris Squire, RIP. Zenfolio | André Fiedeldey | 2017 - Yes, Massey Hall, Toronto |

I commend the OP for planning to do this, as I think it will beneficial to many current LR users. I've been downloading and playing with various LR alternatives over the past while, all with their own strengths, and have decided to try and NOT get trapped into some cataloguing system again. I've begun exporting thousands of images edited in LR to Google Photos as 100% quality jpgs, so that I at least don't lose the final results of the editing work, and will continue reviewing alternatives in the meantime. Leaning towards Rawtherapee (with digiKam as my organizer) at the moment. I like open source, but like ACDsee Photo Studio Pro as well, so we'll see. ON1 is fine as well, but it's not my fav at the moment, just a style thing. Also still waiting to see if Luminar makes a trial version available, only to try out its editing powers. Good luck to the OP, it will be a lot work, but will benefit the PF and wider photography communities.

I have an excellent and fully functional copy of a P30T that you can have for the price of shipping if that costs less than a repair quote. Probably under $20, but depends on where you live. Let me know, I'd like it to go to a home where it will get used.

Nice images. Even though the model is on some very minimalist support at times, she manages to look (mostly) quite comfortable. Good use of light. The way some photographers except a model to contort herself typically ruins many images for me - if a model can't hold a pose comfortable for 30 seconds, it just end up looking unnatural. By that guideline, with maybe the one exception, you posed her really well.

My take on this seems a bit different - I think that there's a compliment there in "you are killing us" - your images are competitive. I don't see any insult or rudeness at all, not sure why some members feel that way. I agree about the photoshopping, even though it's not Photoshop per se, so even that is constructive criticism to me. A pro is offering advice, for free- why not pay attention? I also find many of the images over-processed and unnatural-looking, FB compression surely doesn't help, although the Google images look the same. I'd definitely try for a more natural look, and, wherever possible, minimize distracting background by picking a different vantage point, maybe higher up? Even at f2.8, the background seems to vie for attention. Could be a quality of the lens. In any case, some good images, but removing a few more won't hurt - it's useful to be critical of your own photography so that others don't see images that aren't up to your own standards. If that leaves 100 images, raise your own bar.

I'd choose the lens first - every keeper image you create after that purchase will be better than Tamron 70-300 keepers, whatever the camera, whereas, if you buy the K-3, you'll have better resolution and faster autofocus, but that will not give a single one of your photos the punch that the 70-200 will give. My 70-200 is extremely sharp, very bright and easy to hold and balance for long periods, and I'm no youngster. Used copies appear on the forum every now and then for even less than what K-3s go for. I'd get it first and save the $100 difference towards a good used K-3. I started my journey with the 70-200 on a K10D as well, upgraded to a K20D and now use a K-5, but you'll notice I had the 70-200 before the newer cameras. I've never been sorry about that sequence. I'm sure you'll get a range of opinions, but if, as you say, you've been happy with the K10D AND wanted to upgrade to a faster lens for a few years now, you've really answered your own question.
