This photo was taken October 20,2011. While I was attending to washing up the dinner dishes this majestic animal appeared out the window. It came along and sat long enough for me to run and get my camera. I took the photo through the window and was pleased how it turned out.

A very rare experience to have the opportunity to see a cougar roaming free. Since then we have had the opportunity to see three yearlings pass through together, at our one hundred seventy acre place of residence which.

That is a possibility, before I installed two new 32GB Lexar Platinum II cards. Is there a way to change the count which will reflect the true number of images taken?

I did that last night and it indicated the shutter count was 37, which reflects the number of photos I have taken probably taken.

Am I missing something here.

I have just purchased a K1 and upon taking the first pictures the image numbering started at _img001.DNG the next one was _img002.DNG. When I took some more the numbering started much higher _img3425.JPG

The first one's were taken using a smc Pentax 18-250 mm in crop mode then the next one was taken using a smc DA* 300mm in FF mode

I did a search in the forum to see if this was already discussed, found nothing.

Any assistance in solving this riddle would be appreciated.

Thanks

I bought it from Staples here in Cranbrook. Unfortunately I have had it for approximately eighteen months, so I guess I'll just write this one off. Will have to think twice before I purchase another ScanDisk. Got any thoughts on other brands which are of top quality?

If you are referring to a firmware up date on the K20, I did it recently. The TV used for viewing was an HD, the type of cable was an RCA. The other interesting result was, we tried the ScanDisk Ultra Ⅱ SDHC card in my brother's Pentax point & shoot camera and got the same results. That certainly reflects a card problem.

Thanks for this. When I zoom the problem is corrected. I am still wondering why it shows up on the TV as "jaggies when displayed and not the computer? Your comment on the faulty card has got me remembering that I too had a problem with some pictures, the message "this image cannot be displayed" with a black screen appeared. It is a ScanDisk Ultra, 8GB one that I purchased over a year ago and only put it in the camera to use on a recent trip. Do you think if I try reformatting it might correct the problem?

I have recently experienced an issue with my K20 when viewing a photo on the monitor. If I take a picture which has a horizontal line in it, such as the trim on a vehicle or the siding on a house. When I view it on the monitor the line appears not as it should but a step up then a step down continually to the end of the straight line (can't think of another way to explain it).

When I view the same photo on a TV the same scene appears. This is not the case when I upload the pictures to my iMack. Everything appears normal.

Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Is there any advantage to using a Sigma Ex DG UV Filter on a Pentax SMC Da* 300 mm F4 ED (IF) SDM Lens.
Will the Hoya UV (0) be adequate considering the quality of the lens?

Thanks for this, need some clarification re your comment about using the SMC-F 1.7X AF converter. You indicate it "will turn the 300F4 into a 500mmF6.7".

Below you say the "1.7x TC costs 1.5" which I interpret as turning the 300 F4 into 500mm F5.5, am I missing something?

Prime lens

I am interested in purchasing a telephoto prime lens for my Pentax K20 in the 400mm range. After researching what is available I find a 400mm is not an option. All that appears to be available is the Pentax DA* 200mm or 300mm.

If I was to purchase either one of these along with a 2.0 teleconverter this would be the only way of achieving my goal of having a lens in the 400mm range.

I would be interested in hearing other people experience regarding the following.

What make of teleconverter works best with either lens?
Will I be able to utilize the auto focus feature?
How many F stops will I forfeit on either of these lenses?

Any other helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
