Suddenly, 2016 doesn't seem so far away. 2015 would be better. :)

Yes, it's really hard to tell. I got the first pictures back and they seem ok. No flare or obvious loss of contrast. The sharpness is good.
I checked the auction site and if you overexpose the pictures of this lens on some of the listings, you can see the same outlines. They are all uniform around the lens (hard to see in the picture) so it might not be separation?
I have a few days left to evaluate it. It's a tough call. If I send it back for exchange, I might get one in worse shape. This one has perfect aperture blades and a good shutter. The barrel is perfect too.

Is this classic lens element separation or could it be something reflected inside the lens?
The outermost gold/brown rings can be seen with just incident light.

I can't wait for the review. Based on the reviews, samples and AF videos I've seen, I'm sold. This camera gives me total confidence they are on the right track. I'll upgrade and patiently wait for a full frame down the road.
One thing I haven't heard much about is the flash performance. Will that be covered in the review?

Thanks for the quick review.
What about the sharpness difference between the IIs and the regular? That's what I'm wanting to hear about.

I also agree with that suggestion! Make the viewfinder just a bit bigger and offer a no-video model with a CCD sensor.

With all the switchers (not just from Pentax), will premium Nikon out of production used glass become as hard to acquire as Pentax's.

I think it's just about being honest. Don't oversell your items and you'll be fine. Same as the auction site.
Another thing I've noticed in the marketplace are postings where the seller says they are the original owner of sometimes very rare items. A search of the forum, however, shows they acquired this extremely rare lens in the wanted section well after the lens went out of production. Doesn't original owner mean you purchased it retail new?

This is good for Pentax to know. If they want to differentiate in the FF market, they could make one with a better OVF and smaller camera size.

Ouch.
Not as bad, but I missed on an F*300f4.5 BGN for under 500 because I searched for a matching filter. I even had the order confirmation, but got called the next day and someone else got it (from the other forum it turns out...).

Not on the weekend. I think it was a forum member from here or the other forum. Someone with an ebay search filter.
The FA with the powerzoom is what I'd prefer.

I'll probably order day it starts shipping. Maybe wait for Pentax forums review, however. Was going to switch because of no FF announced, but I'll wait it out now (D600 cost disappointed and certain key features missing.).

Does the D600 have micro AF adjustment on a lens by lens basis? I've read conflicting information on that.
Thanks,

I've seen them less than the FA*200/4 macro. What did the FA400f5.6 originally cost?

It's also the hassle of selling everything that stops people from switching. And genuinely liking the Pentax system.
I said it in another thread, but the Nikon 200mm macro looks like quite the bargain compared to used FA*200mm macro prices.

If I switched, the first lens I'd get is the 200mm macro or micro as they call it. Only 1600 compared to 3000+ for the FA*200mm. Think about it. If they release a VR version, the price on that too will be a fortune.
I was set on switching in April, but the hassle of selling my lenses and sticker shock at the prices stopped me. Will see what happens and even considering the IIs.

I was set to switch with the D800, but got sticker shock especially with the cost of replacement Nikon lenses. D600 is still a bit too high, but I would buy a Pentax for the same price since I have all the lenses.
So I'm also back to film. PZ1-P and waiting.

My experience with the DA70 wide open is that it is NOT acceptable for full frame. The DA70 must be stopped down unless you enjoy moderate vignetting.

I'd love to see a comparison. Throw in the Nikon 200mm F4 macro/micro, which looks to have equally good build quality, but fewer elements also.

Has anyone used it with the Nikon 200mm F4 macro (or micro as they call it)? How does the Nikon 200mm macro compare to the FA*200F4 macro? It certainly looks well made.

I'm hoping for 6x7 or 6x9. That way scanning will be easier. Hopefully I can find something inexpensive. The one deal I saw on the auction site was pulled. The classic "item is no longer available". I feel auctions should go both ways. If you have to commit to buying it, the seller should have to commit to selling it. Or lose some stars if you cancel auctions too often. Most times I see the same "item no longer available" relisted several days later.
