Ya, I'm feeling really old. As I need more time to do less, dropping regular posting on the forum, which used to take me to past 11am many mornings seemed like the logical thing to stop doing, just in terms of the amount of time and effort.

This post indicates that you are very dissatisfied with the K-70 and do not wish to keep it. Therefore it is your decision to return it for a refund. Also, from reading through all the comments, advice and suggestions, it is clear that no one here is going to change your mind. I think we should all wish you the best of luck with your K200D and Tamron lens.
On a personal note, I do not detect any blue tint, slight or obvious, in the photos you posted. I have owned a K-70 for a little over two years now and am fully content with the results and colors it provides me. I do shoot almost exclusively RAW and post process in PSE 2019 which gives me the photos I wish to have. The only advice or suggestion I thought of while reading through this discussion was, perhaps it would take a little time (maybe a month or two) using the K-70 to fully understand the settings and to get totally familiar with the camera. After all, there is a 8 year time span between the release dates of the cameras and there are significant and numerous differences in the controls, options and technology.

That's well done by the 55-300. Most zooms aren't good at their extremes and have to be either backed off or stopped down (e.g., the Tamron is a lot sharper at 280mm than 300mm, so I tend to swing it 300mm and back off a hair when I need it that long).

The version of Tamron I have is A17 and is a very sharp lens but does show tendency to purple fringe.
The comparison above with the dragonfly is misfocused so I expect the PF is exaggerated and would diminish a bit if properly focused.

Last year I said to myself: This KP is the last Pentax-branded camera I buy. But look at me now I just received a brandnew K-3 Mark III kit. The one of which I said "I am never gonna buy that one". Why, oh why? Well I noticed there is something going on with Ricoh/Pentax and I noticed that webshops just have a limited number of Pentax's in store and the kits are on sale to make room and are at the moment cheaper than the body only. The kit is the K-3 Mark III with the fabulous 18-135 lens. But not only this camera was on sale. So I bought myself the 31mm Ltd as well, that one arrived yesterday and I took it out and it is, well, a lens you have to get used to. It is a silver one and my new Mark III is a silver one as well, so it stands out to my K-3 II and KP.
The kit is now accumulating to room temperature and in a few hours I think I'll take it our for a stroll.
The second image is of a Katie feeling at home with her new friend...

Thanks very much to each of you. I'm glad you are not bored with them! So many fine images in the DA 18-135 WR, Show us what it can do - I hope some others will pick out their best and post them here. Mircea, I hope you get as much enjoyment from the lens as Paul, Kevin and I have got.
The take-home to me it that the 18-135 is a very good all-rounder. Combined with even a cheap body and maybe a DA 55-300 f4-5.8 and a cheap prime like the A50 f1.7, all for say $US600, it offers outstanding bang-for-buck.

For stitching panoramas, I use Microsoft Image Composite Editor (which is free and easy to use). (I process the RAW files in PL, export as TIFs and stitch those in ICE, which exports them as jpgs. It sounds more complicated than it is.) For my rare forays into HDR, I have used HDR Efex Pro. I sometimes use Nik Silver Efex Pro for B&W images. (I have the free Google versions of these two, not the DxO versions.) Otherwise (and this is for 95% of my photos) it's the DxO programs all the way.
I would like to try focus stacking, which requires something else.

If you do, make sure it's the Elite edition. Try ViewPoint as well for your wide angle lens. And feel free to PM me if you'd like some presets.
Here are some photos taken on a light aircraft flight in the Tasmanian wilderness. (Some distortion and reflections from the perspex windows of the aircraft are visible.) The versatility of the 18-135 and its good resolution, contrast and colours make it a good option for flights and boat trips.

Essentials is about two-thirds the price. See whether you like it - if you do, you will probably want to get Elite eventually - PRIME and DeepPrime were both big leaps forward and ClearView is one of the tools I use the most.
Thanks Mircea. (Quite a bit of ClearView in use in these shots! )

Many thanks Richard. I wasn't aware of Muench - will check out his work - or the term "anchor".
In Australia, every landscape photographer is influenced by the late great Peter Dombrovskis, who helped us see our country in a different way. One of his images was actually instrumental in saving the remarkable Franklin River in Tasmania from a dam project that would have destroyed it. Dombrovskis was a master of composition, including the use of the foreground "anchor".
Many thanks Vincent.

They call such foreground elements the "anchor" of the picture. David Muench from California was the master of this technique using a 4X5 Linhof with a 75 mm wide-angle lens and applying tilts according to the Scheimpflug Principle. You can find awesome landscape photobooks by this famous author and photographer. Regards 12 mm FL and f/8 |

It takes a lot of time to build that level of trust with wild birds. When you are that close, the 18-135 is the ideal package because of its range (compared to a 16-45, 16-50, 16-85, 17-50, 17-70, 18-55 or 20-40, for example), its short MFD (the 55-300 PLM is 0.95m, the 18-135 is 0.4m) and its responsive AF (my DFA 100 is sharper, but the AF is slow and noisy).
Here are some more to reflect your encouragement, so to speak. :)

Not a first-choice birding lens, but with excellent centre resolution and very good AF, it can do well if you are close enough.

Black finish. Happy with the build quality and a quick look through the viewfinder, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
