I would do it without hesitating. The camera is incrementally better, and those two years of warranty are interesting. Resale value will also be higher a few years down the road.

Using your K-1 had a cost of only 10 $ a month........that is a not to expensive hobby I would say.

Yet another who doesn't get the GR, and is blaming the camera for that.

I think it is only a matter of Ricoh making the GRIII hotshoe compatible with the O-GPS-1 unit.
The GR works well for very close focus which is were Pixel-Shift would be nice to get the best and most out of the details. As would general landscape and cityscape images benefit from PS. If you want the finest detail nothing really beats PS.
I am not sure why people don't really understand the significance to staying with the much slower UHS-I bus instead of moving to UHS-II. It solves all kinds of limitations most especially at 24mp sensor size.
Ricoh shouldn't just move to UHS-II for the GRIII they should move to MicroSD to reduce size to help accommodate a larger battery.
One thing not mentioned is the Accelerator Unit. Let's hope the GRIII has the next generation AU. ---------- Post added 09-25-18 at 04:13 PM ----------
Ricoh officially announcing the coming GRIII isn't "newsworthy"? I am not so sure about that. It is plenty "newsworthy" in of itself. Adding IBIS to the GR and finally moving to 14-bit files is significant.

This is why the whole TIPA awards thing is starting to lose credibility in my eyes...plus, the K-1 isn't even out yet!
A little recognition is always nice, though.
The Theta S also got an award for "best design"- interesting choice there.

Not a single post in this thread is critical of Pentax or any of their products. All people are talking about is the TIPA Awards being pointless because they simply throw them at every camera there is, and create categories simply to be able to do it.
So stop being paranoid, no one is dumping Pentax.

My guess is that there will be plenty of grips available. I doubt that will hold anything up for you.
My wife preordered and was given a date of April 25 by B and H for what it's worth (the original date was a little earlier, but they moved it back).

Interestingly, I don't care about the philosophy as much as the fact it features a FF sensor inside... Everything else is just eye candy or superfluous :P

I agree with VisualDarkness on the 40mm. Sharpness isn't everything. Depending on what you shoot, of course - a macro lens should be sharp - but if the 40 is your favourite, don't be too eager to get rid of it.
Test charts have their uses, but don't let them take the fun out of photography :)
