Thanks Adam for a great addition. Seeing is in the eye of the beholder (to twist on Grant Teaffs quote) and we, with our cameras share our minds eye. PF is the single best site I frequent. Thank you for your efforts!

I use my glasses for reading, mainly, although I do have a mild correction for distance that is more and more helpful. I wear bi-focal sunglasses most of the time when outdoors. I use the diopter with no problem, glasses off. I have decided that the best place for my glasses when off is in the "v" of my shirt's neck, one ear piece behind the shirt and the other and glasses proper in front. Hangs there nicely and is fairly secure. Easy on and off, out of the way of the camera and strap, quick access to be back on for viewing something on the camera (settings, etc.).
Diopter works fine, glasses off for me.

I use an old neck strap off of my Canon AE-1 that I had for many years. it is perfect for me. Has quick release clasps, for use with the tripod, hangs just right so that when walking I can sling the camera to my hip or butt and is thus out of the way of my arm swing. This latter is nice when the DA 35 is mounted as that lens cover just wants to fly off! The strap is made of nylon webbing and must have a long life span.
The original strap was way too short and thus the camera would bounce on my belly as I walked. Not so good.

The fish eye is my basic, walk around lens. I am mainly an outdoors shooter and find it the best of my wider angle lenses. What everyone says about a "Twofer" is quite right. At 10mm you get stunning wides, and if taken with care and when possible, little evidence of the curve in the horizon line. At 17mm it is a fine wide angle with little or no distortion. Plus, you get to adjust between 10 and 17mm to get the effect you want.
Great color, sharp image, a super lens. I would consider it a "must have" in a kit!

I'm just back from there and I used a combination of lenses, but I was driving to my vistas. First of all, my primary was the 10-17 fish. I love this lens. My second lens was my 77. Great color, fine detail. degree of telephoto. My third most used was my Tamron 70-300 which I like and feel does a good job. Now if I had lots of money I'd go for the Pentax 600 zoom, but still waiting for the lottery.
Caught a beautiful rainbow from the watchtower, down in the canyon it was. I was shooting level with the top, almost. The fish got it all at 10mm, the 17 most of it, and switching to the 77 let me get bits. Still evaluating them now that I am home, as to which I like best.
Anyway, fish and 77 would be my choice. Or, in your terms, as wide as you have then good tele.

I just returned from a 2 month trip to Canada. I started with my 35 Limited as my 'stay on the camera' lens and ended with the 10-17.
The 10-17, as others have previously stated, is a 'twofer', in that at 10 mm you get fish eye, but man, you cover a lot of space. For instance I stood under giant redwood trees in Northern California and shot from base to tip! At other times I'd close down to 15-17 mm and take wonderful panoramas with little or no edge distortion. I am in love with this lens. It has a wide range uses, produces great color, etc.
To me it is a 'must have' in the bag!

The show is one of my favorites. Sometimes I get lulled into thinking I too could take such great shots! He is super. Plus, I like his delivery/voice/attitude. Nice show all in all.

Just back from a trip to the beach. Had a nice four days with good weather. First time out with the DA 35 and the FA 77. Like both for different reasons. It will take me a bit to see how and when I want to use each one.Attachment 29466 Catalina Island across the channel.
Attachment 29468 Flocks of birds (hard to see in small pic) leaving the preserve and heading out to see for a nights fishing.
Attachment 29467 Area refered to as "The Gulf of L.A.", or more properly "Huntington Flats".

Man, and I thought I was alone! I had Sweet Baby Ray's last night on a pork chop. Had no time to shoot it as the BBQ was just too good! Seems SBR is well known coast to coast!

I, too, find the moon shots far from boring. I love to shoot the moon with my different lenses to see what effects I can get. It's fun and it's free! Uh, once one ignores the LBA costs, lol.

Thanks for your shots of the redwoods and the elk. Spent a summer working up the hill from your shot of the elk for Weyerhauser during collage days.
I'd suggest that you work with turning the polarizer a bit more to even out the sky. Note in pic #1 how the sky is deep blue on left and light blue on right. This can be a problem with using them.

I have the larger version of this tripod, the Slik Pro 700 DX. I love it. Mine is a big heavier and a bit more robust than the model you listed and as such can handle up to 15-16 lbs.
I mainly like mine for the height which is eye height at the eye piece with just a bit of center tube extension (an inch or so). The build quality is great also and the quick connect on mine is quite good.
Would buy another. Mine cost about $140 US.

I really liked all your photos and when I got to #6 I was glad you took them! It is about 80 degrees here today and I LOVE IT, BUT I DO LIKE THE PICS OF THOS RIDGES WITH THE SNOW BLASTED ON THEM. THANKS. Sorry for the cps, clumsy fingers.

I shot this with my Tamron 70-300 @ 1/180 and a f 9.5, I think. I used center focus and metering, with the camera set to Aperture priority, on a tripod with cable release. Also I shot it fairly low on the horizon. Lots of cropping!

We have some of these here in our yard that we brought back fro the Islands. I love the smell. Of course in our yard they are just stalks right now.I'm inspired to shoot mine this summer! Lovely! I can smell them in my mind. Thanks.
