The K-R sure offers a lot for such a cheap DSLR and I agree with you, it feels superb in the hand (and to my eyes also looks nice) but I would'nt discount the Panasonic G3 out of hand;
It has an updated Jpeg engine (from the GH2) which renders better colours should you wish not to shoot raw. It has a very nice 16mp sensor with a weak AA filter ... very good detail retrieval. ISO performance is as good as M3/4 gets (perhaps not as good as APS-C but closing the difference and there is now a reasonable lens selection with some superb optics. - The contrast AF system is also reasonably quick, not Pentax DSLR fast but plenty unless you predominantely shoot sport and perhaps more importantly, it is accurate in most situations.
I can fully understand why you would go Pentax K-R, it is good value for money but the focusing issues have put me off it personally. I've seen a fair few examples of badly focused image taking in low or artificial light. I am sure the camera is not always to blame though.

With all due respect, neither of your two photos are in focus. This will most certainly not re-assure the OP :)

Can I just congratulate you first. I followed your Flickr album and have to say that many of your shots are simply fantastic.
You have obviously plenty of experience with the K-R and have made a great contribution here can I possibly ask you what you think about the camera, the lenses you have etc.. I would be grateful for pluses as well as minuses if there are any. Many thanks in advance

Isn't it amazing how a little happiness can spread and make people feel better (despite the problems some experience which hopefully can, to some extend, be addressed by pentax themselves soon).
Hopefully this is a turning point and it would also be good to see more of you post pics taken with the K-R.

Do you know what? I just registered here to post one reply to you!
I've been following this forum a little while, mainly because both the K-5 (and K-R) are on my shortlist.
I have to say, you pop up in almost every thread and its just .... negative, negative ... you get the jist I think. You single handedly could probably convince people not to invest in this brand.
You said your peace (over and over and over again), dont you think it's enough? I do apologize and try not to make this sound too personal but have you really got nothing better to do? - If you need any ideas, perhaps snap a few pictures in a mode the camera can do ... much more informative, believe me.
Well, I guess some folks just live sad lifes.
There you go, got nothing else to contribute here but you should be barred, as simple as that. Just get your canon and be at peace.
To all others, there are some very good, informative and helpful forums out there, just look for them if you are totally fed up with all the negativity on here.
Regards
