Yeah it does show that, it's a good charger. I doubt it's faulty. Thanks though!

Well. That's embarrassing. Setting it to NiMh improves this quite a bit! The eneloops were charged but not new. Not many cycles on them though. The Alkalines were new and only lasted maybe 2 minutes. But they are cheap, so I am not expecting a whole lot. Let me try some freshly charged Eneloops with the correct battery type setting and see how it goes :)

Thanks!

Battery Depleted with new batteries

Hi there,

I noticed that I can't shoot video with my K-r longer than a few minutes. Same with Live View, though I don't use that regularly. I have the battery adaptor and use 4 AA Eneloops. I am discharging a set that I tested and so far have drained 1287mAh out of them, so they were at least half full. The battery type didn't make a difference set to Auto or Lithium. I also tried some Alcalines (Maxell brand, so probably not the best), and the same happened with them, no matter the battery type setting.
I was running v1.11 and upgraded to 1.13 with no changes in that behavior.

Any ideas here?

Thanks!

AF Cancel and Viewfinder brightness

I think some of it is the angle. When I kind of look up into the viewfinder, I see it quite well. That's necessary with sun glasses, and not so bad without. I still think it's somewhat dim in bright sunlight, but ah well. It's a great camera!

QTKitServer process on OSX when watching video

To answer my question: I had a bunch of files in /Library/Quicktime that were old and probably unneeded. I moved them out of the way and it works now!

Hope this helps someone else out there!

QTKitServer process on OSX when watching video

Hi there,

I am having some trouble watching the Motion-Jpeg videos from my K-r on my Mac. A process called QTKitServer is taken up all the CPU and not going anywhere.

I read it's related to Quicktime X, which uses that process to do things in the background, but this is no good. I am using Snow Leopard.

Anyone else having problems playing their MJPEG files on Snow Leopard?

Thanks!

Christoph

AF Cancel and Viewfinder brightness

Hi there!

Just got my K-r and loving it! A few things I noticed and wanted to pass by some pros just in case it's just me:

1. The AF/AE-L button can be mapped to "Cancel AF." I thought that was pretty useful: Hold the button and you can quickly use MF without flipping the switch, but alas, it doesn't work like that. It still seems to try and move the motor when I rotate the focus ring. Just me, or is there a trick? It'd just be nice to quickly MF that way.

2. The info in the viewfinder is nice, but during a sunny day trip today I noticed that it's barely visible. I thought it was my (polarized) sun glasses first, but even without them it was hard to see. Is there a way to make that brighter?

Thanks!
