Sticking Mirror

The mirror will not come down when I push the reset button.

Thanks for the pdf file, it is a tremendous improvement over the manual I downloaded from the Pentax Imaging site which looks like the mimeographed stuff we used to get in school back in the 60's! I could not read and did not know I could move the frame counter because the image was so bad.

Just received an eBay purchased 6X7 and am sacrificing a roll of film to check operation. After installing the battery, I found that the mirror sticks with each operation. If I remove the battery and give the body a tap, then the mirror releases and returns to the rest position.

The prism fits loose so I have ordered a seal kit which comes with a mirror damper and is supposed to have installation instructions. This will be my first attempt at camera repair/maint. , anyone have tips to offer?

Thanks,

Tom

Presently I am using a K20D with a *istD as back-up. Just HAD to have the *istD in the first month of production and paid $1679 for it. Within a couple months it dropped $500 - $600 bucks and offered a package deal with the DA 16-45 lens. Of course that did not apply to me since I had owned mine for several months. I sent a letter of complaint and suggest that a loyal Pentax owner for 35 years deserved some consideration. They sent me a camera case!

Still happy overall, but I do get annoyed at not having mastered external flash operation. Exposures are hardly ever consistent. The P&S cameras do a better job.

I have it figured out now. The detent between 105 and macro was a little stiff and I was afraid I might break something if I applied too much pressure.

Just purchased a F 35-105 Macro lens and am getting my butt kicked trying to figure out how to get it into macro mode. My experience with Pentax goes back to 1967 when I bought my first Spotmatic, just never owned a Pentax macro zoom before.

Thanks
