Just 2 questions. Do you have the hood for the lens and the spots on the front of the lens in the third picture is that dust on the exterior of the lens or inside and if exterior could we get a clean pic of the front element?

Some would say all the more reason that laws should be made by cool heads away from the passion of an event. Passion has been used to drive this nation to war it has been used to curtail liberties before and now it may once again be used to curtail your rights under the Constitution.

Why as a site support do I not belong here as I come here and my most visited section is the P&R area ? I don't post in other areas because when I did I got flamed by all of my fellow forum members and being nothing but a snapshoter and not a serious photographer. I lurk the other areas but will never post there because of the this attitude towards "non serious" photographers. I will miss the P&R section even though I may not have the same political views as 99% of the other posters they were still for the most part entertaining to read and argue with on occasion with. I will admit I will rethink my continued support of this website as a result of its closure if I am going to nothing but a lurker on the site why support it? Just my two cents about this.

So now all who oppose Obama are equal to Nazis ? Should we watch Fox News we "are narrowly or poorly educated" guess only the true intellectual giants watch MSNBC because you know that's completely unbiased in its reporting. That's right only the Republicans are accused of voter suppression even though the Florida attorney general is investigating mailing to registered Republicans telling them they are non eligible to vote as their citizenship is in question. Then again what would one expect from this forum of such open minded individuals ?

There a a few of us that are soooo stupid that we continue to post from time to time but I think we are masochists. But welcome to the forum and post away oh by the way the only acceptable sources of information are the huffington post, the daily kos, Msnbc, and other liberal new outlet. Should you watch FNC you are an idiot that enjoys being lied to and you have swallowed the lemonade brewed by the secret world order led by the Koch brothers and a few others. Ok I think I covered all the bases for the uninformed conservative new to these threads. Carry on there is nothing to see here take you camera and go outside.

Religion and the race

The Press
Then
The Washington Post was equally intolerant of religious prejudice. In a Sept. 2, 1960, editorial titled “Debasement of Politics,” the Post called religious attacks “bilge.” The paper declared: “It is hard to gauge the influence of this kind of material in a political campaign. Probably it evokes a response only in those who want to believe it – that is, in those whose prejudices make them hospitable to such appeals. It is doubtful that this kind of appeal can be countered on any rational basis. But there can be no doubt whatsoever that it debases the political process and does irreparable damage to the fabric of social unity.”

Now
In a June 18, 2011, editorial ostensibly decrying prejudice against Mormons, The Washington Post expressed disdain for the Mormon church, complaining: “There’s plenty about Mormonism that might strike a non-believer as strange or objectionable. Is it literally true that an angel helped Joseph Smith find a sacred book made of golden plates in rural New York almost 200 years ago? It is not to the church’s credit that it fought same-sex marriage in California or that it banned African Americans from its clergy

Television then
Nor was disapproval of religious bigotry confined to print outlets in 1960. NBC contributors also decried religious bigotry. On the April 24, 1960, telecast of the NBC program “Meet the Press,” reporter John Steele asked the Democratic presidential candidate from 1956, Adlai Stevenson: “Governor, there is one other issue, a dark and ominous one, which seems to hang over the whole business of selecting a president this year. It is the issue of religion. Has this really got any place in the business of politics?” On Nov. 6, 1960, Nixon’s campaign manager, Leonard Hall, was asked on “Meet the Press” to condemn anti-Catholic literature circulated by groups unaffiliated with the Republican campaign.

Television Now
Nor has religious bigotry been confined to print. MSNBC, the left-wing sister network of NBC News, has attacked Mormons on numerous occasions. MSNBC “The Last Word” host Lawrence O’Donnell mocked Mormonism on April 3, 2012, as being “created by a guy in upstate New York in 1830 when he got caught having sex with the maid and explained to his wife that God told him to do it.” (O’Donnell was forced to apologize for his comments.)

MSNBC “Hardball” host Chris Matthews portrayed Catholics and Mormons as “cultists” on March 13, 2012, and declared: “They are willing to outsource [defeating the President] to a Mormon ... It's almost like calling up India or somewhere in the third world to get your computer fixed. You don't care who's fixing it, just fix the damn computer.”

On Feb. 28, 2012, MSNBC contributor and Salon.com editor Joan Walsh mocked Mitt Romney’s faith over Twitter. (Walsh initially tried to defend her comments, but later apologized.) On April 19, 2012, MSNBC anchor Martin Bashir snidely cited the Book of Mormon to declare Mitt Romney as a liar in danger of damnation: “Given what the Book of Mormon is clearly saying, Mr. Romney has but two choices. He can either keep lying and potentially win the White House, but bring eternal damnation on himself, or he can start telling the truth.”

When Sen. John F. Kennedy ran for president in 1960, the major news outlets urged voters to see him not for his faith, but for who he was. It was a major moment for journalism. Had news outlets embraced bigotry against Kennedy, perhaps he would never have even won election.

But in 2012, that history is lost on many in the news media. While the outlets might still be pretending they have a similar mindset, they do not. Journalists have repeatedly underlined Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith – far more than they have for candidates of other religions – as a shorthand way to set him apart. And news outlets have done far worse, serving as mouthpieces for anti-Mormon hate and embracing it themselves.

Anti-Mormon bigotry is even more inexcusable coming from journalists who claim to revere the memory of John F. Kennedy. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews wrote a book extolling the virtues of the Catholic John F. Kennedy, yet emulated anti-Kennedy bigots by labeling Romney a “cultist.”

I just find it funny that all the attacks against him are being made by that ALL INCLUSIVE WE LOVE EVERYONE DEMOCRATIC PARTY MEMBERS. You sit there and attack the Republican Party for being the party of bigots well all I can say is look into mirror it takes one to know one as the old saying goes.

first off let's simply overlook the fact that the "Israeli" nation has existed in some form since roughly 1200 BCE and has been enslaved and forced into exile from their lands at least three times in recorded history so it's rather simplistic to think that this issue started with the U.N. mandate of 1949 and the return of historic land to Isreal to create a state that had already existed there.
Second point who's freedom of expression can we restrict am I allowed to censor people's opinions I am opposed to? Either you allow everyone to say whatever they want or you restrict and curtail what people can say in violation of the constitution , let's ignore the fact that the film in question was evidently made by an egyptian and edited by other Egyptians and then blamed on the US which had no participation in the making of the film.
As for the third point I don't even know how to respond to that to be honest with you , thankful that the President of our nation apologizes and tries to humble his nation in the eyes of the world is something that you find as something to be thankful for?

Potential Effects of Exposure to Depleted Uranium

In the kidneys, the proximal tubules (the main filtering component of the kidney) are considered to be the main site of potential damage from chemical toxicity of uranium. There is limited information from human studies indicating that the severity of effects on kidney function and the time taken for renal function to return to normal both increase with the level of uranium exposure.
In a number of studies on uranium miners, an increased risk of lung cancer was demonstrated, but this has been attributed to exposure from radon decay products. Lung tissue damage is possible leading to a risk of lung cancer that increases with increasing radiation dose. However, because DU is only weakly radioactive, very large amounts of dust (on the order of grams) would have to be inhaled for the additional risk of lung cancer to be detectable in an exposed group. Risks for other radiation-induced cancers, including leukaemia, are considered to be very much lower than for lung cancer.
Erythema (superficial inflammation of the skin) or other effects on the skin are unlikely to occur even if DU is held against the skin for long periods (weeks).
No consistent or confirmed adverse chemical effects of uranium have been reported for the skeleton or liver.
No reproductive or developmental effects have been reported in humans.
Although uranium released from embedded fragments may accumulate in the central nervous system (CNS) tissue, and some animal and human studies are suggestive of effects on CNS function, it is difficult to draw firm conclusions from the few studies reported.

Does that mean that President Obama then thinks that corporations are "people" as this is who normally makes up the private sector? I thought that only those evil, corrupt, despicable, hate mongering republicans thought that corporations are "people" I could be wrong but i am not sure as i often am wrong according to everyone on this site :D

I know the time of year increases the anti-Christian rabble rousing on the boards but my question why only one religion? I rarely see attacks with such vigor against Judaism or
Islam or any of the other various religions of the world. Atheists sit here and attack Christianity with full zeal but ignore all other faiths, all I am asking is why? We sit hear and hear from pagans who attack Christians for believing in a God by referring to his as someone in the sky but the next breath the comment about how their belief prays to a goddess but they can't point to her but this is considered ok because it's their belief so it's acceptable. I don't care if you hate my particular belief system but I only ask that you attack all religions with the same zeal I don't care if it's Christianity,Islam,Judaism or any other religion. That's all thanks for reading

OK I will admit it when it comes to this little sub thread about Atheism i am confused are you guys saying that it qualifies as a religion because its followers may not have orginizations (churches or places of worship) but it followers have to faith in it? I have to admit that I always find it funny when someone says that they are atheist because they don't believe in a God but isn't the definition of a religion is having a belief in something that can't be proven that requires you to have faith in its existance in the first place? So isn't the faith that there is no divine and that this limited existence while you live is all there is and all there ever will be a belief structure?
