The Excitement Returns...

Well if the new sensor is aps-c and as good as N!kons D700, I'm excited. My friends shoots with a D700, gotta love the high ISO capabilities, eventhough he complains over the weight, but I think it has to do with the fact that those who shoot with that brand is weak ;)

Myabe it's a nobrainer to you, when i bought mine there wasn't much to choose between. But as DaniRo said tamron has 9 blades compared to pentax 8, and the tamron is regarded as one heck of a lens, no wr though.

I have decided that I'm going to buy a lens tomorow (friday), just got my salary today :) The problem is that I'm not 100% sure on which lens to get. I', down to 2 lenses atm and those are
pentax 50 -135 and sigma 50 - 150.
Sigma is cheaper, has longer reach, seems to have a slightly faster AF and more or less the same IQ as pentax.
Pentax has the advantage of having weather sealing and is probably better built.
Is there any advanatges/dis advantages that I have missed?

Well, the camera suits me just fine (K-7), I wouldn't mind better high iso, but it works fine.
What I would like is some better flash options, able to go +3 on flash and stuff like that. And if they are going into pro space they'll need it.

Do you shoot mostly Handheld or Tripod?

Mostly handheld, even for macros, a bit too lazy to mess around with the tripod I guess. Got a monopod too, I have started to use that one for the tele, and the pics improved by it.

Big Dawg: Very nice photo, love the pp.

Jyrika: Nope, that's the old one.
sterretje: That was my plan, if I only can decide which friggin lens to get, can always hope to win a fortune on lottery and buy'em all ;)
Does f/4 work if you can't use flash and don't want to bump the iso to the moon? I'm going to use the lens on a K-7. It's just one stop faster then 2.8, but the question is how much the will cost me in iso bump.

The tammy is also an option yes, i have the 28-75 and it's not noise free, but noone has complained at weddings yet :)
As of the DA* 50-135, well knowing myself i always end up wanting longer stuff for some strange reason, but it got two things over the 60-250. Cheaper and faster.
Importing to sweden will cost me 25% vat, so it doesn't make things that much cheaper, unless i'm lucky.

Hi there!

I'm thinking of getting myself a new lens (LBA tells me to buy more though...), and I was waiting to see how the new sigma 70-200 would come out. Well it seems like it's going to be quite expensive, around 1700$, so I started to look at some alternatives.
I will use it for wedding shots, and since my lady has taking up riding, I'll shoot some pics of her aswell. That means it needs to be fairly fast.
My options is:
1. blow the budget on the new sigma 70-200
2. sigma 50-150
3. Pentax 60-250, only thing here is that it is f4.

Any suggestions (aside from buying all:)) are welcome

Cheers
/Thomas

Another pro for the oly is the tilt and swivel LCD. But that doesnt matter can't afford to change system anyway, I hope that Pentax will have that on a future model though.

I saw it on a show here in sweden on friday, looks and feels very good, but way to pricey. Seems to be like 2x the price of a Sigma 70-200 and even more compared to the Tammy 70-200.

Telezoom question

Hi there!

Since I'm in the process of trying to get a longer tele then the tammy 70-300 and is a lill scared of the kind of huge range of the bigma (wich actually is stupid coming from superzoom..).
The question is how good is the sigma 170-500 compared to the bigma (50-500)?
I know that sigma has announced a 150-500, but noone seems to know when it will be availble in pentax mount. But if anyone has tested it on other mounts how does it compare to those above?

A big thanks in advance
/Thomas

Well this is more or less what take overs and merges is all about. Get rid of things that can be done on other locations, not needed, makes to little money.
They usually also cut down quite alot on staff, since it will require less after a merge.

Yet another flash question

Hi!
I'm in the process of buying some photoequipment to the school that I'm working on. Since we don't have an unlimited amout of money (who does) I need to get as much value as possible for the money I spend.
And as the title suggest I'm thinking about flashes. My question is if the Sigma EF-530 DG Super will work directly or if I have to send it to Sigma for an upgrade to work properly with a K200D. Another question is if the Metz 58 or Pentax 540 is worth the extra money.

The cameras will be used by students, with mostly limited experience with d-slrs.

Cheers
/Thomas

Thanks all for the comments :)

As for the fill flash comment, I wish i owned a flash.. (need to get one someday).

About #2, well I have to agree looking at the pic again, they are dead center, problem is that the pic is uncroped so i would have had to back up even further away to get more of the scenery (drawback with a 90mm prime).
Why did I shoot it in landscape rather then portrait? well I like the fact that you get more of the "surroundings" when you use landscape.

Once again thanks for the comments :)
