According to photozone's review, 5.6 seems to be the sweet spot.

DA* 55 is my favorite lens that I have ever used, and I own a FA43 Ltd.
It depends on what you are looking to do.
The F/FA 135 is also a very good contender for long portraits (headshots and such).

Sure, sir.
I cannot remember what aperture this was taken with. Probably either F2 or 2.8. My sis and a bear statue. The car going by behind her was probably about 20 feet away.

Also, to add to snostorm's great answer, if you shoot RAW, the aspect ratio in my recollection does not crop the RAW to anything other than full resolution in 4:3 factor.

Samyang has not said directly what the price would be but has given hints around the first announcement (August 2011) that the price will be around the same as the 35mm/1.4, somewhere around $499.

According to that thread:
"
I shot an outdoor theatrical event this week that had very dim stage lighting. Since the rehearsal was in progress, I couldn't use flash so I bumped the ISO up to 6400. Still not enough so it stayed at 8000 most of the night and up to 10,000 for a few shots. After a little work in Camera Raw and some touch-ups with Topaz Denoise 5 , I got dozens of very good, publishable images. Very happy client and very, very happy K5 shooter."
Are you shooting in raw?
The examples that I have seen from the k-5 at ISO 6400 look similar to my eyes to results from the k-x at ISO 1600 - quite good, but some color denoising might be required at low exposure.

My opinion: get the cheapest one, and make sure you have a split focus screen.
Let me repeat that. My experience is that I got easily frustrated since I didn't have a fast focus screen. Great optics, but nailing focus is super critical, since it's pretty prone to bokeh fringing.

It sounds like maybe the self timer feature is on (mirror up, 2 seconds, take photo). You can check it by pressing the up button while shooting to see what mode the camera is in. Hope that helps.

I had this same behavior with an older non P-TTL flash (AF220T) -- always fires the first time, but very sparsely after that. If I put it in X-sync mode on my K20D, it fires correctly every time. Since I paid $20 for the flash, I'm happy that it works in any mode at all. :)
Hope that helps.

It corrects for consistent incorrect auto-focus. If you notice with a given lens or all lenses that the autofocus consistently sets the focus either in front of (front focus) or behind (back focus), but when you manually focus the lens, it gives you an in-focus shot, you can use the AF adjust to adjust the autofocus such that it focuses correctly. There are focus charts out there to calibrate for just such a purpose.

Exposure compensation is accessed by pressing the black +/- button to the left of the green button on the K-x, then using the zoom wheel to jog left or right to set the exposure comp.
Also, it was not clear to me whether you had reprogrammed the green button to use Tv Shift, so here's the instructions in case you hadn't.
(copy/pasted from Using Older Lenses with the PENTAX K-x | Pentax Support)
To set up your PENTAX K-x to use older PENTAX lenses:
Press the Menu button
Press the left button on the four-way controller to get to page 4 of the Rec. Mode menu
Press the down button on the four-way controller, select Green Button
and press the right button on the four-way controller.
Press the down button on the four-way controller, select Action in M Mode
then press the right button on the four-way controller and select Tv SHIFT. Press the OK button then the Menu button twice.
