Wheatfield the problem is that is tryed using my K5 just like my K10D,
so i did not understood it was in high iso mode 12800,
then my K10D's memory card was a class 4 card, i should have bought class 10,
i tryed and understand for 2 days so i was so disappointed that with the translation and my bad english things have been what you saw,
no when studying it correctly, and asking for things, the K5 is really really much much better than previous ones, and i really begin to enjoy it,
i will never return it
i would just like ISO settings in video mode, and a 24 fps for editing purposes, but you are right it is not at all an obligation, just a personnal need or dream

I AM SUPPORTING PENTAX,
I PREFER PENTAX, AND PENTAX IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR MY NEEDS,
and most of the problems i had with the K5 have been fixed now and i recommend people reading this thread to BUY THE K5 as it is a really amazing DSLR
By the way i really don't understand why a 24 fps video mode, a cinema mode, having a fixed ISO, and not to be only in liveview mode for video is not possible for the K5,
are they so expensive things to do ?
Why do you want me to waste thousands with an heavy professionnal camcorder, when pentax can just fix some electronics in a DSLR ?
I am not asking the moon, just a 24fps mode and fixed ISO,
seems so few to me...

Rupert you should translate "Les croissants" from the french humorist Fernand Raynaud, it tells the same story,
unfortunately for you what i say is LOGIC and this logic is the same as the compatibility with K and KA lenses, it was made to use old fashion lenses, so it attracted people like me being interested in old fashion methods and lenses,
so it is LOGIC to do the same with video,
and if you are honnest you should understand it

PixleFish i think you have not understood me at all,
I AM A PENTAX COMPANY'S FAN,
i am K and KA LENSES BIG BIG FAN,
and i SUPPORT PENTAX by buying their camera for years and i will keep my K5 and post sample pictures in here be happy or not !
else yes some review websites gives wrong or incomplete informations, sorry but it is true
(some of them, not all !)

But i am persisting to think Pentax Engineers should know people using pentax cameras with K, KA lenses want to do the same with the video mode, and to shoot 24fps with full sensitivity control just like if it was a movie film inside

well certainly translation problems, and problem i had not studied correctly the K5 before,
but i read dslr review websites
and not all of them give all informations, one of them said it was limitated to 32Gb SDHC, and now i discover with this forum that 64Gb Extreme Pro can be used, so i had wrong informations too,
Is it possible for the liveview mode not to zoom in on the subject while autofocus ? (i cannot find how) ?
and to shut down the screen if not using liveview ? (the light on the screen bothers me when i am looking directly in the lens)
finally where can i see the firmware's version number ? cannot find it in the menu

What i want is a digital movie camera doing just exactly what a movie camera did in the 60's, 70's,
with lenses f1.2, f1.4, 17mm, 21mm etc...
and all in manual of course;
it is what i am looking for since 10 years

well robma if you are shooting only in 1 frame mode and not using the video, yes the K5 is really amazing i agree,
but i had the K10D for that,
i bought the K5 for the 7 fps shooting and for a video mode with old lenses like old movie cameras
and i had some troubles with it, hope i will find what i want in the future

to better explain i was using a canon camcorder vixia full hd before the K5, but it was AVCHD, not 24 fps but 23.97 fps, and the most important is that i cannot adapt old pentax lenses on it (with f1.4 for example),
so i was terribly disappointed with these camcorders too,
and i was so happy the K5 could be a solution for me,
unfortunately it is not

No Gulfer, i cannot buy a movie camera to do my interviews for websites first because they are too expensive, seconds because what i am waiting from a movie camera is to shoot just like a SLR (i need the old pentax lenses on the camera),
so i dreamed pentax had understood it with the K5, and my dream came true with the K5,
unfortunately, it is 25 fps and when shooting from light to dark the sensitivity changes and i cannot make effects with light,
so it disappointed me
but i will do them in 25 fps, and continue to dream to a pentax 24 fps with fixed ISO for the future,

to finish with it i can say i am buying only pentax cameras since 2005, ist D, ist* DL, K10D, and now K5 and certainly its successor, so i am a big pentax fan too !
but i think i was disappointed because i was waiting for better more in my mind.
and i agree with you, other brands are not better, it's not what i've said, i was just waiting more from my prefered brand, pentax, (specially the 7 frame/s, i was really imagining projects with animals running)

par contre je vous trouve particulièrement "fanatiques", c'est à dire n'acceptant pas la critique, je veux un mode video 24 images par secondes, je veux pouvoir changer les iso manuellement aussi en video, je veux pouvoir prendre des images en rafales sans avoir à attendre un buffer, je ne veux pas que mon écran clignote en ciblant en zoom sur le sujet en mode liveview car ça me gêne,
le type derrière le k5 a 45 ans et il fait de la photo depuis 1984 !
et il développait ses photos lui même en chambre noire à l'époque !

La vérité c'est que je suis fan des objectifs pentax (pentax lenses), car je suis pour le vintage, je cherche à mettre des vieux objectifs pour avoir la même image que dans les années 70, et pentax était le seul qui permettait vraiment cela,
et là avec la videos je voulais du 24fps pour faire comme dans les vrai film 35 mm,
j'ai besoin de ça pour mes créations,
et je suis trop déçu que Pentax, ou les autres méprisent nos envies de cinéma et de contrôle manuel total (TOTAL MANUAL CONTROL FPS, ISO etc...)
Mais je ne vais pas vendre le K5 qui me permet de faire partiellement cela quand même car les autres ne permettent même pas le peu de contrôle manuel du K5.
Donc si j'ai un message à faire passer à Pentax, c'est nous voulons un mode manuel (M) pour la video aussi avec tous les FPS possible (24 images par seconde, 15 ou 16 images par seconde, 25 fps, 30 fps etc, et en vrai images pas de avchd),
En plus aussi un vrai mode rafale rapide, qui s'arrête pas pour bloquer,
si je veux prendre un animal en mouvement et que dans la seconde qui suit une voiture qui bouge je dois pouvoir le faire, je n'ai pas à attendre que le buffer se vide,

I change this message because i were misunderstood with the translation of language and most of the problems were located in my memory card,
and the default settings,
i wanted to compare these problems with other users and it has been seen as something other,
the K5 is pretty good, it is really more powerful than most of other DSLR,
i just hope 24fps mode cinema mode
and that ISO can be fixed in video mode
