from all the looking around i have done starting up my own rig.... looks like you have done a good job of finding the best 'bang for you buck' parts, you've helped me out alot. How is the indiFOCUSmini working for you? I've read mixed reviews.

Does Pentax require proof of purchase from an authorized lens dealer when dealing with lens warranties? I am asking this because i am in the market for a new lens and I doubt some of these companies on the internet are in the official dealer network.

I got wind of the price drop to $1299 on Amazon almost instantly... I am a big user of *************** and fatwallet.... and had an instant email notification set up on SD that would notify me of any postings in the site forums involving "pentax".... (quick tip for you guys in the market). People post all the time when big ticket cameras go on sale. I guess thats how i was able to get to take advantage of the price match with B&H before they cut others off. Hope this helps! New K-5 is awesome and only a couple hundred more than the cheapest listing i could find for a K-7! Win!

I submitted a price match request email with link to Amazon last week, they sent me a quote matching the price at $1299. Then I added the Epson R1900 printer to my order for $489.
What's even cooler about this?
There is/was a $400 rebate on the R1900 printer when buying a pentax/nikon/canon camera valued at more than $500. I recieved the printer and camera this morning, immediately posted the printer on Ebay, and sold it in less than an hour for $440. After fees and shipping, this comes out to about $375 net.
$1299 k-5 + $489 printer = $1789
$400 rebate plus $374 ebay sale = -$774
Total cost for my New K-5 = $1015 !!! |

I sent an email to sales@bhphotovideo.com with the links to both sites with lower prices. I received a quote with price match within minutes ... only thing i can think of is maybe they have a limit on these price matches.... and that would be lame if true.

i got mid day notification yesterday of the Amazon price drop and sent in a Price Match Request to B&H to match the Amazon and Tri-State prices...and they sent me a quote matching the Amazon price.
The big reason i wanted B&H over Amazon was because they stocked the Epson R1900, and i also had that added to my quote... order complete, both items shipped today.
Guys, don't rely on a listing, if a reputable site has a sale price... 99% of the other outfits will match or beat it -> they want your business.
$400 rebate here i come! |
