Many thanks for your comments.
Aye BigMac i see what you mean regarding the redness of the bouy.
Kerrydown abigail affected the ferry sailings and little damage was done, but we are used to strong S/Westerlys at this time of year, 75mph forecast for this afternoon.

The image was taken a couple of years ago on one of these rare days when that temperature got above 20c. I would have liked to have taken a few paces back but i was up against a fence as it was and didn't want it in the image.

Many thanks for your kind replies. It's a bonnie spot that i frequent regularly during the trout fishing season there being a good loch called the "Blessed Loch" about 100 yards from where the image was taken.

Fantastic images with great clarity and depth, and No:1 is my preference.

Taken from the back door of my house, which is known as Common Grazing. This is an area in the village where any crofter can put their sheep usually in the summer months to give the more fertile croft land a break.

Here's my tuppence worth on the image. Cropped, darkened the sky/highlights, unsharp masked a wee bit, cloned out some weired stuff to the left of the falconers glove, topaz denoised, and some other stuff that i can't remember.
It's a great really sharp image that in reality (if you want it to look real) requires very little manipulation.

Thanks Schmidlapper.
I did have the Tokina version until two months ago, but foolishly sold it and two other Pentax primes to fund a DA*16-50mm. I was truly gutted when i realised that the newly aquired zoom was nowhere near as good as my old prime lenses. So after licking my wounds i'm now in the process of replacing them which i suspect is going to take some time.

A fantastic set of images. You ceratinly managed to convey the sense of how cold it is and i had to turn the heating up after viewing them!

Yes Susan they are black houses. This is a village on the West side of the island which was abandoned in the mid seventies and has been renovated over the past ten years or so.
Lori, it's early days yet with the camera but what's obvious is the difference in build quality. Fortunately the menu/modes were easily navigated not being that much different to the K-r, but it's under it's hood that i'm hoping to see the biggest diffence with the superior sensor.

I would like to thank all forum members for their contributions regarding the K-5, as it was your posts that convinced me to take the plunge and upgrade from the K-r which i've had and enjoyed for the past couple of years. Living a remote region of Scotland where there are no camera shops to speak of your opinions were invaluable to me.
I've also attached a couple of images of St Kilda which i visited last summer. One of Gallan Head the most North Westerly point in Scotland with a fantastic trout loch, and an image of Gearrannan.

These overdone comicbook HDR images seem to have a huge following from what i have seen on Flicker, and it seems to be the same group of people who are commenting on each others images. As if there's some extreme competition to out do each other in some obscurely manipulative way, which are nothing like the well executed subtle images which have been posted on this thread.
Oh, and i use it!

Got a Hoya 135mm f2.8 a couple of days ago in a PK mount which is sadly hitting the road as it cannot match my Jupiter 11A which is unfortunately in a M42 mount. I thought the Hoya would be the one but alas no.:(

To what degree if using the same lens in an outdoor shot where iso speed isn't an issue (base) do the K7/5 sensors differ in terms of rendition?
I presently have a K-r and it's not supposed to have much RAW headroom, but i usually manage to pull most images back into ordrer in Elements.

Greetings to you all from the edge of the world.
I've been a lurker on the forum for some time gleaning as much info as i can on all things Pentaxian.
I presently have a K-r using older manual lenses (prefer them) after dabbling with other mannfacturers, and a wee Lumix LX1 for certain situations. My wife who's a kayaker has two of the WP Optio cameras, and we also have two sets of Pentax binoculars.
My first camera was a 35mm Pentax and since then i've had a sort of soft spot/loyalty to the brand.
Best Regards, Calum Flickr: Calum Swanson's Photostream |
