This is an image made with a very well used (pretty much worn out mechanically) M-50 1.7 I inherited from my Grandfather. Despite its sloppy mechanism the optics still shown through on this dark and dreary late fall afternoon at the pond. (Downsized and converted to B&W)

Another aspect of true prime macro lenses besides close focusing is their optical design is optimized for flat field imaging. This is to say they have excellent edge to edge, as well as overall, sharpness. This usually comes at a trade-off of a slower maximum aperture. Many macro primes do make good all purpose lenses, but will be f-2.8 max aperture or slower. True macros are good for reproducing flat subjects like artwork, etc. as well as getting close to bugs, etc.

These are from my daily walks around town. Ive been doing a personal assignment on patterns and designs. I use some of these as desktop backgrounds or base layers for other images.

Are those the Patterson plastic spools? If so, they have a self loading feature where you start the film at the outside, and twist the two flanges back and forth to pull in the film. I unload the canister and let the roll curl up around my pinky fingers. While twisting the spool, the film will feed right in. Be very certain the spools are bone dry or the auto feed system will bind up. It is easier to do than to describe!
Practice in the daylight with developed film.

It's been crazy chasing these prices around. I bought a K3ii at the beginning of this month and neither B&H or Adorama included the Flucard at that time. I grabbed a Pentax Flucard on the 'bay for $50.00 (they are still available at that price). The fact is, these camera bodies are an amazing value at any of the going prices. This camera has been a joy to use, too.

So I just discovered this thread! I am a long time K20D (and K10D before that) user. I am just now preparing to purchase a K3ii, feeling no need to upgrade until reading about the latest performance and features. The K20D has an image quality that reminds me a lot of Ektachrome 200 transparency film which I shot almost exclusively back in the day (on my trusty K2, K2dmd and MX cameras). It will be interesting to compare with the K3ii. Here are some images I made this morning on my (frosty) walk (with the exception of the macro shot, taken with a takumar f4 m42 macro). I shoot RAW only with this camera, so these are all developed with Adobe Camera Raw.
