It was deliberately shot 2 stops underexposed across the entire frame in order to retain as much highlight detail as possible. ---------- Post added 08-10-14 at 07:53 PM ----------
Haha! Yes, I could have used a Grad ND filter (soft or hard) However, the telltale sign of a grad ND is often obvious on many images, IMO, especially images like this one where many tall buildings encroach upon the sky.

Dear friends,
Long time no see! For those of you who are curious, here's a link to a "micro-review" I've done on the Dynamic Range offered by the 645Z. I wrote very little, choosing instead to provide interested users with my original DNG file for examination.
I hope everyone is doing well and taking lots of pictures! Pentax 645Z – Real World Dynamic Range | starvingphotographer.com |

Thanks, Tracy! This place is great for a visit any time of year, but after a heavy snowfall...the photography can be magical.

Thanks, Bruce! We don't get so many opportunities either, so I had to act quickly when a big snow storm hits.

Thank you, Bruce! I totally agree...in any other season, I don't find these bridges as interesting. The snow just seems to make them special.

Fantastic! Very creative and well done. I might crop out the more linear green part on the left, but that's just a small nit.

Thanks, Arnie! It was an adventure getting there, but the look of the red bridges totally made it worth my while.

Still a very nice shot, Bob. I'll have to Google this Oloneo PhotoEngine thing. May be of some interest. Thanks!

As many of you know, the weather in Western Washington this week has been ridiculous. Snow, hail, sleet, freezing rain…you name it, we got it in buckets. While most people are trying to stay off the roads, I’m looking for places to visit for unique photo opportunities. One of my absolute favorite venues for snow photography in Seattle is Kubota Garden. Here's a shot I thought turned out well. I hope you enjoy it! |
