I have dealt, happily, with Adorama in the past. I just placed an order for a pentax af160 ring flash, and am pleased that it will help support the forum.

I'm trying to use an older pentax macro lens with 2x converter on the used K20 I just got. the top display is flashing for f stop. How do I tell the camera what f stop I have the lens set on, and what mode should I use. The manual that came with the camera is in french. thanks for any advice.

I have an AF080C ring flash that doesn't always fire. The ready light comes on. I'm suspecting a possible bad cable connection, but I have no specs or way of testing whether it's the charging unit, cble or flash itself. I've done the usual moving the cable near each end to try and determine if it's an open wire, or bad plug connection, but nothing works consistently to indicate that. Sometimes I can hit the test button 6 or seven times in a row and it will fire, the the next time it won't. Now it's more times that it doesn't fire, and with film, it's frustrating. Is it possible to get just the ring and attached cable to plug into the unit if that's the problem, or do I need to send it out for repair?
Bee season is beginning and I'm going to miss a lot of shots either way.

I use a 50mm Pentax macro lens with 2x converter. I'm happy with the pictures it takes. My question is, all other things being equal, would a straight 100mm macro lens do a better job?

I like the top one best. You know that the barn is the focus of the picture in both, but there is so much more interesting stuff happening in that top picture. I found myself looking at the barn, but then exploring the mountain tops. The bright light to the right lets me know that there is something in the distance. I love the contrast between the rolling fields with treelines on the right and the more rugged mountains, and my eyes keep going back to the barn. I like the bottom picture, but I feel confined to the area behind the barn. In the top picture, the whole world is mine to explore

Hi, I've been taking pictures of honey bees for the last few years using my pentax SF1 with a pentax 50mm macro lens and 2x converter.
With this setup I have a AAF080C ring flash
I've been looking into getting a digital body.
Would a used K10 or K20 be a good choice given the amount of magnification?
Also would the flash I have work in auto exposure with a newer digital body.
Thanks for any help. I'm glad I found this forum.

Hi, I just joined the forum from Berkshire County in Massachusetts. I've only ever used Pentax cameras ranging from the me super, super program and SF. This will be my seventh year as a beekeeper and I love taking pictures of them. I am considering getting a used K20, and look foward to lots of good advice from you all.
