Any K5 review that doesn't mention the shutter vibration issue is disingenuous at best.

Major deal breaker. I was considering a K-7. Hope this doesn't apply to the K-5. How about mirror slap being responsible? One more reason for going mirrorless.

I have a G1 and can vouch for the usefulness of the screen. It's great not to have to bring the camera to your face in many situations like candids.

K7 or K20D?

I've always used Olympus so I'm not too familiar with Pentax and would appreciate some guidance. I want to get into the Pentax system without spending a fortune but still get high quality images so I'm looking at some used models. The K20D & K7 seem to have similar specs so I'm wondering what the differences are. Access to legacy lenses is one of the main reasons I'm going with Pentax. I want to get a mid range wide-tele zoom without breaking the bank. For macro and extended tele I'll go with the older manual lenses. For available light I want to get a fast 50mm prime lens. Recommendations? Thanks.

No. Look at the Lumix G2.

That's your assumption. It's not proven.

Some basic questions

I'm thinking of switching from the Lumix G1 to Pentax K-r for access to legacy lenses without the 2x mag factor and more third party lenses. I really like the articulating screen on the G1. It's disappointing that not even the high end Pentax models have one but I can live without it. So my questions are: How well do legacy lenses work? I'm particularly interested in using fast prime lenses wide open for portraits. I know there's no auto focus but does the diaphragm automatically stop down? How loud is the shutter? I've heard it's pretty loud. Are there adapters to use lenses from other systems like Olympus OM and Leica SM? How good are the kit lenses? Is there a wide selection of reasonably priced, high quality third party lenses like Sigma? Thanks.

I currently have a Panasonic Lumix G1 + 18-140. I'm thinking of switching to Pentax for access to legacy lenses without a 2x mag. If anyone in the area wants to go on a photo shoot let me know. Lots of interesting areas esp. now that spring is here.
