Happens to me all the time. It's the camera. I can shoot on orange/red battery for quite a while. Changing the battery from AUTO to Nickel-Metal Hydride may or may not help.

I don't think the K-5 has a focusing screen. If you're planning on buying the K-5, i suggest getting the K-01. It has the same sensor as the K-5 and focus peaking, which is a great help for MF. If you plan on using many manual focus lenses, then I would suggest a focusing screen, but imo, it gets annoying if you plan on using just AF most of the time.

It had rained really hard one day. The day before I read about using flash to freeze objects and shoot rain so I decided to step outside and experiment with the on-board flash. These two are my favorites out of the few I took.
I didn't focus on the right part but I still like it.

Ah yes, a typical tourist will shoot a friend right directly in front of the a really tall monument and in the picture, the person looks like an ant. Well, unfortunately I have the problem as well. Is there a way to make it so that you can see the person as well as the structure of interest without using a shrink ray of course :p
I've seen examples on the internet where the monument is far in the background, but sometimes the buildings cannot be seen from a far distance because either it is covered by trees or other taller buildings.

I came from a point and shoot with noisy high iso pictures and often used flash. I upgraded to K-x after reading reviews on its highly regarded low light performance. I got comfortable with increasing the ISO as needed and stopped using flash. However, one day I went to a dimly lit restaurant and had to resort to 6400 ISO. The pictures turned out horrible! The pictures were not only blurry but grainy as well. With that said, I want to start using the flash again. Is there any way that I can use the flash and not get blown out faces and dark backgrounds? Any other tips for on-board flashes? I tried a ping pong diffuser but it didn't really help imo and chances on getting a new flash is really low.

Note: This is for a required assignment for English class. I need an argument to write my paper on.
Pentax is better than both Canon and Nikon.
Pentax is better followed by Canon then Nikon.
Please leave your responses about those statements. Leave whether you agree or disagree and why. Thanks for helping me with my assignment. Please be respectful and nice toward others.

That was how I felt when I got my first DSLR. I wanted everything from a new flash, new lenses, a filter, a diffuser, a bag, a hood, etc. In reality, I bought no additional accessories for my K-x, not even a flash or a bag. Since you are just beginning, i suggest getting familiar with your camera first. Read the manual and learn about exposure. After a few shots, you may feel that you need a bit more reach or you need a faster lens. That is when you start looking at new lenses.Don't be afraid to use high ISO! I got my K-x at night and immediately started playing with it. I shot pictures and never went above iso 3200. Boy did that create blurry pictures. As for accessories, I say just get a bag for your K-r.

Your lens manual then. I'm used to lenses being A not M. Didn't even consider that as an option. In Av mode, it is all shot wide open no matter what your aperture ring is set to.

On manual mode, when you press the green button, does the shutter speed change with the turning of the aperture ring? Are the pictures the same when in M mode with same shutter speed and different aperture?
Do you have any other manual lenses to see whether it is the lens or the body that is not working properly?
