Who else are waiting for a firmware update for K-r to fix the FF problem

yeah..... well...... about that "tungsten" thing.....
I made some test (following all recommendations) with focus charts under dim light and I got the FF issue.... however it was not exactly tungsten, it was a "warm" neon bulb (and my pc screen light), it's a white neon bulb but the light has his yellowish tint.
And as many others have reported, changing the WB to "tungsten" you get some improvement (not spot on, but noticeably closer to)

If it works for you great! enjoy it! but you can for example read reviews as the one on dpreview.... and you will see that the video mode is extensively criticized and it is where the K-r received the lowest grade. As far as I know pentax has never highlighted by their movie mode, however I never use it.... that's why I bought a Photo camera and not a video one.....

Again, the ff issue affect me.... affect my pics...... the video mode doesn't and if you feel comfortable recording videos with your K-r, just enjoy it!

still waiting!
I got a 50mm 1.4 not a cheap one! cuz the DOF control and to be able to shoot under _low light_ conditions.... which is useless without a good focus accuracy..... my K100D focus better than the K-r..... however the performance of the K-r at high ISO is very very good IMOHO....
I know that perfection doesn't exist... that's why I can accept the not that good video mode of the K-r, the not having the AAs battery adapter included, the cheap plastic mounting of the DALs, but I think is not too much to ask an accurate ff which is not a new feature.... is that kind of thing you just expect to work.....
and btw.... the K20D except for the fact that is not free and that battery is not infinite has any other "flaw"?

The only thing that really scares me is that the frmwr for the K-5 seems to be working or not depending to who you ask.... but for all I have read there is no conclusive verdict about frmwr 1.03 and ff issue.....

Pentax Shutter Count

.... let's see.....
my experience with my k100d it that:
- the files number has not already reached the 99999999.... but this number doesn't take into account things like manual WB and "digital preview" (yeah.... kind of a useless first approach to live view...) and cleaning sensor (which I'almost sure is taken into account for the shutter count)

about XnView (great program! IMOHO) under the exif/Maker Notes/Shutter Count appear some unreadable characters.... for me is like " é?âg " however on Ubuntu XnViewMP (for linux and mac) has the same "exif" tab, but also a second one called "ExifTool" in there I can read the shutter count! same number that appears on PhotoME and slightly higher than the file number

PhotoME is a great program but it can't add or madify the EXIF author and copyright tags, just the IPTC ones. Exifer can do both.

Hi you all.-
I'm using this Exif editor Exifer but it's a very old version and the author says there won't be more updates... So I'm looking for a replacement...

I need to edit (individual or batch) Author, comment, title, copyright, date: taken, modified, digitized, from EXIF and IPTC separately, just like exifer do (Exif and iptc are two different tabs).

Any idea???
Thx for ur time!

I'm using winxp, cs3, exifer.

I'm using eneloops...
I'll suppose that if the camera came in without the batteries on it, it should be no problem to store it without the batteries, I'm I right?? I don't want to loose my configuration will it keep it? will keep the date and time (I'll suppose it has a internal battery but I'm not sure)???

Hi, I got a question...
If I need to store my camera (K100D) should I remove the batteries??? or should I leave it?? I found nothing in the manual...
Another tip for storing? I'll do it in a cool, dry place in my caselogic bag with a silica gel thing, like the one coming in the shoes boxes...

Thx 4 all again.-

hi, today I need a program to view all! the EXIF info and to batch edit the author, copyright, comments and other fields.... I mainly need to add my info in the author and copyright tags but if you know a program able to edit all the EXIF tags it'll be interesting.
In other post of this forum I see PhotoME and it really show all the EXIF info but has not yet batch editing.

Thanks for your answers.-

Hi guys
I need a program to change the white balance, bright, contrast, hue, saturation and all the other colors settings from pics.... Especially the white balance, I need to select a "neutral gray" from one pic or manually set it, and apply the same changes to the others pics. What do you use?? (excluding photoshop). Free is better! cheap is an option if worth.

Thanks.-

by the way, the other day looking for a watermark and batch editing software I found this faststone photo resizer... it's interesting I like it a lot, easy, simple, free, and portable (in a flash drive)....
FastStone Image Viewer, Screen Capture, Photo Resizer ...

Hi, I was reading around""" and a question emerge""""
1) What is the shutter life for a pentax K100D?
2) It is something I should worry about?
3) The Point-and-shot cameras had a limited shutter life as DSLR?
4) Can I do something to prevent the shutter dead?
5) Is it replaceable? for a low cost (I mean if is too expensive is better to buy a new camera?!?!)

Thanks for your answers!!!

Hi u-guy-reading-my-post,
I want to do some panoramic (horizontal and vertical) pictures, and big compositions (means that I need to align horizontal and vertical in the same composition), and 360° views in a plane.
The problem is that I can't find program that fully convince me.
Please recommend me a program for panoramic pictures, if it's free a lot better but if there is a very good-almost perfect program I can break my money-box...
Thanks for all.-
