I have spoken to my 85 year old camera guru, he has given me the same advise as grhazelton "Switch it on, and leave it for a few hours" and lo, the test lamp has come on and the gun flashes!
It takes a little while to come back on, but I presume the batteries are now low.
Thanks for your advise.
Gary.

I have just acquired a AF400T to use with my 67ii.
When I switched it on to test it, it hums but test light never comes on, is it faulty?
I also have a TR3 battery pack to connect to my AF540 but the cord does not fit the AF400.
Would it be worth trying to find the correct cable, or is there a fault on the AF400?
I have put new ever ready batteries in, should I try Duracell?
What are the best settings to test it on? (off the camera)
So many questions, thanks, in advance, for your help.

I had no response and was unable to find further information but it appears it should stay on whilst there is a film in the camera, I haven't had to replace the battery since June, so it doesn't drain the battery quickly which was my concern.

When I take pictures with my K7, 1.7X adaptor and DAL 55-300 the images appear a little too dark. Should I be compensating to correct this? or should the TTL metering recognise this and set the correct aperture/speed, I usually shoot on fully automatic.
is this normal?

I have just got a 67ii and loaded my first 120 film, turned off the camera (to L) and the LCD screen continues to display "FILM 1" is this normal as the instructions suggest it should be blank. Will it disappear after a period of inactivity?
A lot to learn and the instruction booklet is inadequate. Are there any third party instruction books I can buy?
Thanks for your help

I think the title asks the question, I have a K7 and would like to put some light to the side of my images, I see the pop up flash is used to trigger the 540 wirelessly and this works, but can I get the ring flash to trigger it?
I'm sure many years ago I had a photoelectric (?) cell to trigger a slave unit with my old ME Super about 30 years ago, can this still be done?
Am I missing something simple, I have read the instructions for the 540 and that says I can use two 540's together, but no other combination.
Any advise?
Thanks, Gary.

Welcome aboard, I agree with Kim, SRS Microsystems are very good, I travel all the way from Dudley to visit them, you get the chance to handle the items and try them on your equipment, and their prices are as good as internet prices and large stock of new and second hand lens including many that are not readily available elsewhere. enjoy your new camera.
Best wishes, Gary.

All good advice, I think I will get 5-6 2/4GB SD cards and swap them around, maybe using two at each location so if one is lost or damaged, I have at least got some memories.
Twitch when you are in Europe, if you find yourself near Dudley, keep going, it's closed down!
No, seriously have a great vacation.
Thanks all, Best wishes,Gary

I'm going on holiday soon and cannot take my laptop with me, I've heard of photo banks to copy files from sd cards, are they any good? can they be used with a Mac? I don't want to spend too much, up to about $100, I use 16gb sd cards and I am worried in case they get damaged or lost whilst travelling.
Thanks for your advise.

I had Pentax in the 70's so when it came to choosing a DSLR I trusted a brand I know, didn't want to run with the crowd, I looked at the quality available and stuck with Pentax, similar to buying my watch I looked at Rolex and Omega but bought a Jaeger LeCoultre, buy the best you can afford everytime.

If the budget runs to it, get a FA31 F1.8, if not go for FA50 F1.4, if you can't run to that I would stick with what you have, and save until you can get one, in the end the quality will show and last a lifetime, better to do without for a while than settle for second best. Good luck, best wishes.

Thanks Greg, I'll look them up and have to try it myself, always worried I'm going to cause damage and end up with a greater cost than paying someone else to do it, so I'll have to be brave!

Years ago I had an ME Super and loved the split screen focusing, now I have a K7 i would love to have a similar focusing aid, but don't know if this is available, or feel confident to do it myself, any idea's where I may be able to get it done in the UK.
Thanks in advance, Gary.

I've had the 55-300 for a year now and very happy with results, one of it's benefits is it's relatively light to carry around, Gary.

We are travelling on a coach, so our timetable is governed by others. I hope to photograph landscapes and may be when we get to know some of our travelling companions a few portraits, ideally with wrinkles and whiskers (male or female) something that may do well at the local camera club competitions.
