Bingo... we have a winner.
For me, no need to read any further in this thread.
Yes.... we have a prototype announced, but we sure ain't gonna tell ya crap about it. Nope, not even a dang photo of it, nor from it.
Zero. Nada. Zip. (Insert your favorite "expletive deleted" ...)
I will still bet "dollars to doughnuts" that the retail price of this (still prototype) film camera will be it's major downfall, no matter what the other specs are.
This is all "marketing buzz" for the Internet.

Good comment. I am tired of seeing Pentax continue to shrink into its niche philosophy ... this is not the right direction, IMHO.
I have not abandoned Pentax (read still valid signature and still using the K-5), and I have hopes to see someday a K-1iii. That would be great for FF with all my legacy Tak, M & A glass which I use mostly with the Sony Alpha 7ii.
I do not think that I am the only concerned by what is (not) happening with Pentax in recent years, and I will speak out that concern.
If I did not give a flying flip about Pentax, I would not bother (trust me) ... I could just sit back and watch Pentax become more and more irrelevant.

Thanks, what I have been trying to get across. But, if one uses the "doom" word on this forum, people go nuts. Here, "doom" is a four-letter word.
If anything, Pentax should communicate more because it is, now-more-than-ever, a niche product, like Leica.

Yes, again. These two lenses are NOT "from 2020 and newer".
And if memory serves me correctly, the new DA 21 took a loooong time to be delivered after its announcement.

Just FYI, if you look at the "Sigma USA" website, Pentax is no longer listed as a supported brand, and that's old news.
Also, the Sigma zoom lenses that you listed are very old and no longer in production. Old news again.
The discussion is about the absence of a Pentax lens roadmap ... not about all the third-party manufacturers which have dropped Pentax from their catalogues ... like Tamron. Like Tokina, etc.
Add good luck buying a new Pentax 60-250 ... or a new Pentax 18-270 ...

Yep. I can count, too.
I cannot see how the HD Pentax-FA could be considered as anything "new" ... just very old screw-drive film lenses with a newer HD coating added.
Kinda like Ford reintroducing the Edsel as being "new" because they added an integrated GPS system.

Can you please give a list of these current available lenses?
And the other 75% older lenses as well.

If I were to go someday Nikon Z, I would like to have some vision of the product development and future progression. Thus, a roadmap would be quite meaningful and a positive selling point and a competitive edge.

Basically, yes. Maybe not all, but more likely those who do a bit of research first before investing in a new or different system.
I think that most would do their own "due diligence" evaluation of a system before plopping down a big chunk of money and with plans to buy more of the same in the future.
Or maybe, that's just me. Kinda what I did when a bought my last car, many home appliances, computer equipment, etc. Research the product, read reviews, third-party independent evaluations and the like.

The Fuji GFX lens roadmap as of September 2023 (yes, this month and now) ... the two new tilt-shift lenses, as promised, are available ... just proves that roadmaps are useless and would never entice one to look into a vibrant camera system. G Mount lens roadmap | FUJIFILM X Series & GFX – Global |

OK.
Most people that I know plan ahead and look toward future events and developments.
Even more so if one is investing in a new digital camera system.

Not good news, IMHO ... lack of a roadmap will not entice new customers to purchase Pentax DSLR gear.

Agreed. It makes no sense to make a Monochrome version of the original K-1 ... especially considering that it's been discontinued since 2018.
I like the notion that the K1ii and 645Z are "too old" to make Monochrome version of ... how better to breathe new life into these products. (Again, zero R&D applied by Pentax on these star products, which are badly aging.)
Good point for the GR3 ... as usual Ricoh/Pentax on the cutting edge of "doing nothing substantive" ... mostly gimmicky "street versions" with special facades.
If "Monochrome" was such a great idea (and Ricoh/Pentax being so innovative as it is), we should have seen them years ago for these models.
I know that I am being extremely harsh, it's on purpose. But the current Pentax business strategy is an overall disaster ... the K3iii Monochrome is "marketing lipstick" (copied from the numerous "Leica gimmicks" for the ultra-rich photographer) on a "pig business model" that is going absolutely nowhere.
I remember well when Pentax was a quite large, popular "value" brand ... and not positioned as a niche boutique brand.
Somebody needs to rattle Pentax's cage and their mentality. If I did not care about this brand (which I still own in droves) I would not bother to raise a red flag.
And if a decent K1iii is ever developed, I will be first in line to try it out. Until then, I will not be holding my breath. Neither should anyone else ...

Please reread my post.
I did NOT write that Pentax products are garbage.
I wrote that their recent business strategy is garbage.
The course of the Pentax strategy over the past decade is a terrible nose-dive.
And if "Monchrome" is so great, why have we not yet seen a "Monochrome" K1ii ? Or a "Monochrome" 645Z ?
This K3iii Mono is just window dressing to hide the main problem, and a crude marketing copy of Leica's gimmicky products.
For info, the retail price of 2,499 € seems to be uniform across the EU. It's not just France, it is all of Europe.

Yes, I am completely frustrated with the strategy of modern Pentax digital.
It's garbage and why I no longer purchase any new equipment from them ... given what little new equipment there is, and that is never coming anytime soon ... since there's zero investment in R&D and everything else.
Please feel free to respond using that "M" word again ... because I missed that one before it was removed by the Moderation.

Agreed that it's not "nothing" ... but not something worth a 500€ premium over a normal K3iii, which provides the added bonus of color images.
Any decent PP can easily surpass a "one" stop advantage that may be inherent of this Monochrome DSLR. Especially where it comes time to print said image.

Thanks y'all for your comments in reply, but for 2,499 € a Monochrome is not worth it. Shoot RAW and convert to B&W in Darktable (which is free) ... or any other decent PP software.
I will bet anyone on this forum that I can shoot almost any (same) image in RAW with my "obsolete" K-5, then convert it to B&W via Darktable, and then print to where it will look like almost like anything coming out of a new Monochrome K-3iii ... put the two printed images side-by-side, and it will be very difficult to tell which is which.
I am looking forward to seeing a few B&W images from this camera, but I am pretty sure that I will not be that impressed since it's still the SAME sensor. There's not going to be a remarkable difference, and any decent PP manipulation of a RAW file will do much better overall than just removing a color filter array.
This is a cheap parlor trick of me... because if a "Monochrome" camera was so great, why haven't other manufactures produced (niche) products like this?
Checklist :
Nikon DSLRs (or mirrorless) = Nope
Canon DSLRs (or mirrorless) = Nope
Sony or Lumix ... or Fujifilm (who's both APS-C and medium format of the mirrorless world) = Nope
But Leica = Yep ... but it's to go along with their "James Bond 007" crap limited collections (among their other crap collections) ... modern Leica has become a bad joke and unfortunately Pentax is now creeping behind in their shadow.

Wow.
The price for the Monochrome in France at my B&M store = 2,499 € ... (a 500 € premium over the regular body ... & 400 € premium over the K1ii)
For the same 2,499 € (and at the same store), I can get a Sony A7iii with the FE 35/1.8 lens ... or a Nikon Z6ii with an AF "F" mount adapter ... or ... or ...
Again another reason, among them many for me, why it's not reasonable to continue with digital Pentax.
Shoot real B&W on a Pentax film body. Trust me, it's fun.

Hi ... just wondering.
Was Ricoh/Pentax present at CP+ 2023?
DPR makes no mention of them and I asked on the comments section.
One person said that they were not in attendence.
Any info ...?

OK. Everyone has has a right to their opinion, but I still say that no one in the general public will buy a new Pentax film body at a 1,500 USD price point. Or even at 1,000 USD.
I was in my local B&M photo shop and this topic came up ... and the salesperson agreed that this camera will never see general production nor will it ever come to their franchise system in France. And definitely at the above price points. I have a good relation with the sales staff and they have often told me about what sells ...and more importantly what never sells (or in very limited numbers). There's some gear that they have to display due to franchise agreements, but none of it ever sells.
If a new Pentax film camera lands on their shelves, it will be a miracle that will gather a lot of dust.
