Just wanna update everyone hehe, I just completely revamped my website and I'd like to get some feedback on what people think so far.

If you read in the about page you'll get some more info but here it is simply:
The website has 3 main parts;
1. The Blog
2. The Gallery
3. The Store (Where I plan to sell RF images)

Tell me what you think guys:

Oh and don't be afraid to comment on the photos in the gallery :)

Yeah I guess your right, it's not only the photographer who is at fault but just remember that most of these guys work on a freelance basis, they aren't hired to do this. They get the shot and then approach the magazines to sell it.

Maybe I should change the " I just want to know what people's feelings are towards them." line to Do you think what they are doing is moral?

I don't think the crowd who buys People and Us magazine complain about the Paparazzi. I think it's the people who couldn't care less what Brad Pitt ate for lunch are complaining.

I'm not switching any topics. This has always been about morals not legalities.
I know it's legal to follow someone in public and take pictures of them. The question is are these people right? Because not everything that is legal is moral.

On the legal side though thank G-D in France it is illegal to publish a celebrities photo without permission,
if they do the celebrities can sue; and they almost always do.

But again just cause the public wants it, it doesn't make it right.
It just doesn't sound right. The magazine knew it would draw in millions. OK sooo....
Take a photo of Britney Spears nude in her shower it'll sell millions of copies, does that make it right. Any more right than selling a photo of Princess Diana dead?

I completely disagree with you. I don't believe in any way that the celebrities would complain if every time they walked outside they weren't mobbed. I think that is a common misconception that alongside people saying that it helps celebrities in some way. Please explain why the celebrity would want it and why it would help them.

"The only thing I think I can be accused of about paparazzi is being really naive. I didn't think about it coming along with the job and I never, during my three years at drama school, fantasized about one bit of it. " Paul Bettany

This is something else I don't believe is true. There are only a certain number of people that actually want these photos. And like anything else in the world, there are other people who would like to see photos of anything sick. It doesn't mean you need to deliver. Magazines use that excuse every time and it's complete BS, it's like saying well the public wants us to follow this guy and make him insane to see if he commits suicide so let's do it.

What do you mean the public gave money to the paparazzi for Princess photos?
I actually don't know that story but let me ask you something...Did the PUBLIC buy the photos or did the magazine buy them and say that's what the public wanted.

I just started a fan page on facebook (link below). But I just wanted to get everyone's opinions here on whether they think the Paparazzi's are Photographer and/or Photojournalists. I just want to know what people's feelings are towards them.
Paparazzi's are not photographers!!!

Here is some anti-paparazzi material:

I voted manual when usually it's selecting a focus point if it's stock or food but action is almost always manual

Thanks for the feedback. I tried fotofolio and it was not working for me. I went with another theme, tell me what you think about it...

Edit: I just started editing it so most things aren't done yet.

First of all let me start by saying that I cannot possibly write a reply as long as yours. So I apologize if my response seems short compared to yours.

Response to 1 & 2: In truth that is kinda the point of the site. I don't do photography for a living or part-time. I take photos for people once in a while through a referral and I'm happy with that for now.

Response to the rest: Your right I should put the logo but I don't know how. I saw your site from the thread you posted in this forum and it's great, did you design it yourself? Did you use a template?

Thanks, maybe I could find a way to make the background black
on the whole website.

Thanks, this was a free wordpress template. I think that I may be able to add
thumbnails of the posts under the main photo, I'll look into it.

I know that CKCA didn't put my name, and it's fine with me. The Director will
give anyone who is interested my name and number. In fact I just got an email
asking me to take photos for a magazine, he gave them my info.

But I understand what you mean.

I'll try black.

Where did you find that typo?

Hey guys. Just wanted some feedback on my new website.
I really went for simplicity on steroids both in the design aspect
and how easy it would be for me to add photos and things like that.

So it's powered by Wordpress and the Theme is monolit

Thanks. Sorry I didn't update the thread before.

I returned all the gear- the light kit,pc sync cord, adapter. Even when it did fire
I realized that I am much more comfortable using constant fluorescent lights, so
when I can I will buy this:

Interfit | Super Cool-lite 5 Two Light Kit | INT117 | B&H Photo

but at adorama because they have free shipping and it's in stock.

So you think getting wireless triggers will solve the problem?
Where can I get wireless triggers that have a small pc plug-the monolights
don't have the regular size hole, it's much smaller.

Called B&H and told them I want to return the Monolights...10% restocking fee for selling me
broken monolights. Woohoo. So let's recap: The lights were $200. Metrocards in total will be $20. I lose $20 (10%) in restocking fees.

LOL, I've decided that I better laugh at this instead of getting annoyed.

Back from B&H today and I returned the PC cord that didn't fit into my monolight.
Now the new pc cord I got comes out easily from the hot shoe adapter so I may have to tape it. One problem though the only way the flashes fire is if after taking a photo I unplug and replug the wire into the hot shoe adapter, really weird.

What a day.

I am back from B&H, even more annoyed.

We tried the Hot shoe in the store and it worked, so I didn't return it.
So he said it could be either the monolights or the sync cords. Instead of going
home and bringing the monolights, I told him to give me a sync cord so I can rule that out.

We tried the sync cord in the store with a different light because the one I have wasn't plugged in, I went to pick it up-got home and guess what....It's the wrong size plug, it doesn't fit in my monolight.

When I go back on Sunday it will be the 4th time and hopefully the last.
Also after the fourth time I will of spent $16 on metrocards.

That would be stupid if I couldn't fire the monolights over 1/180s. I tried it under that and it still didn't work.

Thanks for the info.

I don't know. I'm going to BH for the last time I will ask for a different Adapter and a new PC Sync Cord. And this time I aint leaving the store till we try it on my camera.

Edit: I called BH and they said it could be my camera because both of those adapters should of worked.
If It is my hot shoe I'm pretty much screwed since my warranty is out, there will also be no way of firing those monolights.

Edit the sequel: I'm going to BH now, I will try the adapter before I leave this time.

Sorry I didn't say so, they are monolights.

I tested the end of the PC sync cord by touching it with a key and it fires all the time.

Cool and cheaper than both of those.
Just to make sure, have you used these before on a pentax k100d?
